I think EVERYONE misses everything about the old games, even the long cutscenes. Aside from sneaking, this has NOTHING you'd expect from Metal Gear.

I guess that's the crux ain't it? That balance: put something out that echoes everything that made it great while making it innovative and fresh. I suppose it failed in some respect.

I also think the soundtrack is non-existent. (Not the songs as they're great!) but actual original score. This has the lamest Metal Gear soundtrack ever.

I dunno, I sort of like the musical score. A lot of it reminds me of eighties action movies. I think Harry Gregson Williams did a good job. Although, I wish they never stopped using that MGS score. That theme is amaze balls. It is definitive metal gear, for me at least.

Voice acting is great to me from almost everyone, that and the gameplay are the only redeeming qualities. Everything else is either mediocre or bad.

However Christopher Randolph might possibly give the worst performance in the series, I can't believe how bad his voice work is in this game.

Ocelot is cool to listen to, but I can't stand Kaz. :lol

I'm hearing that skull face might be worse.

Well, my theory from ages ago is that it's a doppelganger, that would make perfect sense. Big Boss was the real villain all along and you're just a pawn. There are so much allusions of duality, even from the initial trailers. The Bowie song in the opening pretty much gave it away. :lol

Then again, you'll probably be the first to beat it on SSF so don't spoil anything, don't even mention if I'm right/wrong! :lol

Yea, I'm close to beating it but whether you're right or wrong I have no clue yet, because where the story is at right now is so unbelievably bad and so underwhelming. I can't believe the stuff I'm dealing with this late in the game. For a game that's suppose to be the missing chapter in the series, the story feels so disconnected and irrelevant to the rest of the games in the series.

Skull Face is over the time and very theatrical, he gives off like an old 60's Bond villain. I like him, he's just as weird and over the top as other villains in the series. Wait until you hear Huey though, your ears might bleed :lol

I'd like to assume Kojima was upset at all the criticisms that MGS4 was "more movie than game", so he gave us "Truckload of of game with little story".

Good to know! Which part did you enjoy? I don't even notice the soundtrack, it's just boomy percussions. Btw Harry Gregson-Williams isn't involved in the in-game soundtrack, he never has been since day one. He only does cutscene music.

Maybe it's MGS2 all over again where it's supposed to suck? :lol

Can't do much about this, I think we all complained about this...I had less problems with the long cutscenes in older games, but even then, it was usually because it was cutscenes that I didn't particularly like. Still, a shame they couldn't really compromise...

I'm still on mission 8, but I'm doing side missions and I ran across Quiet randomly near the power plant section. She was categorized as mission 11.

Well, grinding is not a solution.

I really wonder if you'll enjoy this. It's like 5% story and 95% grinding. None of my friends who are playing it are enjoying it, they have little tolerance towards padding than us SSF folks do. The only people who liked it I've seen are the boot camp reviewers and anybody Kojima retweets. :dunno

I don't really know if the boot camp reviewers can count tbh, but I digress. Maybe I'll enjoy it? I mean, I'm actually really loving Arkham Knight, the batmobile sections don't seem to have caused me to spiral into insanity. Well, outside of Riddler's stuff. But I doubt I'll enjoy MGS V anymore than you guys, I know that much.

Also I Edited my post after you responded, damn it :lol

Sure no problem! :duff

Did you see her at Mother Base yet?

BTW I can't believe how large it gets when you start upgrading it.

Oh did I! Yeah, she was in her cell.

Motherbase is pretty large, but it's the same as the game, all barren and lifeless.

Btw did everyone listened to the tape about Chico? I guess that clears up everything.

Yeah from time to time I listen to the tapes in the chopper, I was curious about his whereabouts.

I'm sorry but I have decided not to play this game, they killed everything I ever loved about Metal Gear Solid. I refuse to have the last memory of the series be one so terrible. I might be over reacting but there are plenty of things I have to deal wih that get spoiled and ruined, why make another. Hopefully someone enjoys it.

The game is really fun to play. Whenever i play the main missions, i get pissed off because i want story and lore, i want my Metal Gear fix. But when i play side ops, which i have been doing all day i feel satisfied and happy. Even though its pretty much exactly what the main game is.

Looks like this is another case of Peace Walker being "fun", but except now, there's literally zero story behind this. The intro was awesome... but, then like others have said, the tedium sets in. Cassette tapes are NOT a suitable replacement for in-game cutscenes. What was Kojima thinking...

Loving it. Been playing metal gear since the first one came out and this is excellent. Doing justice to the name.
