Yeah, I was mostly referring to the Sandbox outside of the base missions. There's absolutely nothing to do outside of these missions, aside from capturing animals and gathering plants. Afghanistan had many tribal cultures living in their cities and towns, that were fighting against the Soviets and sending them back to Mother Russia in body bags. The game just doesn't show that. I had one mission where I was supposed to "help out" the rebels by destroying a convoy of armed vehicles, and guess what? There wasn't a rebel in sight. Wouldn't it be cool if you were actually fighting with them sometime, rescuing town's people and carrying them back home, etc?
Oh, in that I agree with you, it would've been nice if we had conflict zones or other kinds of zones like in MGS4, I don't think it's necessary but it would have been nice.

I keep comparing the game to Witcher 3's sandbox, and for good reason. In Witcher, you've got several kingdoms at war with, genocide, and people getting hung on trees in each town. But, it shows a lively world where people are still trying to carry with their lives. Having NPCs in an open-world game isn't something trivial, it serves as an important backdrop and aids in the overall realism of the experience. With MGS V, all I'm seeing are big open roads, mountains, sparse animals and enemy bases and checkpoints in-between. Aside from the base missions, there's nothing that makes me want to go and explore the world in this game. There's an option in side-ops for "free roam", but I just don't see the point in that. This game is basically just Peace Walker, but on a much larger scale.
I don't mind the solitude, in fact, I like it a lot.

I haven't played W3, don't usually like medieval-esque RPG, but I've been wanting to try it out, I've heard tons of good things about it.

Initially I was uninterested cause the little I saw of the story wasn't very good, voice acting and writing sounded kinda amateurish, but the gameplay and the world sound very interesting.

As for Mother Base, wouldn't it be much cooler if you could actually go into the buildings, or use those mini-subs on the side of your supply base for some under-sea exploration? I've also got close to 200 soldiers recruited, but I just see several guys walking around at a given time. It's eerie how Mother Base looks like a ghost town...
Mhm, not really, I don't really feel I need all that, I expected Motherbase to be just a cute little gimmick to roam around every once in a while in single player.

The gameplay is solid, the base missions are incredible, it's like poetry. But, the open-world outside of this, needed a lot more polishing. I've made it to Africa now, and aside from the terrain looking different, it's the same formula as Afghanistan (checkpoints, base missions, animals, etc.)
That doesn't sound bad to me at all.

I just feel like it's a very full well rounded game as it is right now, much much better and varied than Arkham Knight, it really makes me feel I got my money's worth and I'm only at 12% or so.

I played W3 for about 10 hours Nd it just wasn't my kind of game. The gameplay is really lacking, and I wasn't a fan of the story or even the main character either. I sold it the first week I owned it. It's not a bad game but not for me.

Couldn't resist, saw the ending and... BOY OH BOY! It was obvious since the day of "Phantom Pain Trailer".

In other words:
Dumb, tasteless, dumb, tasteless, dumb, tasteless, dumb, tasteless, dumb, tasteless, dumb,

Well, the game starts slowly, but it gets better when you power up your abilities. The story is very complex and political; there are several conspiracies to solve and it's probably the closest thing I've seen to Game of Thrones in a video game.

It's certainly not for everyone. But, I think Witcher 3 and MGS V will be two games that'll be competing for GOTY awards this year.

I have a feeling Fallout will some how end up sweeping this years awards as usual.

i was on mother base finding diamonds, i must have found like 20 something and then my jeep went all cray cray and jumped off the edge and then i died. lost em all. im bummed out for the night i think

Loving the game not sure what mission it was I had to take on three tanks it got intense.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

MGS and GTA are the only series left that don't feel the need to appease all the SJW and white knights of the world.

Most of the fans hate it, I actually loved it.

Damn, with all the work I'm putting into it, and how much I'm loving it, if the ending doesn't deliver it's really gonna break my heart.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

MGS1 to me had the best ending, it was epic, and deep, while also being simple. To me the ending of MGSV is the perfect ending to this game, really brings this story full circle while still fitting into the overall canon of the series perfectly. I do think it fails at bringing the entires series full circle, which is why I think Kojima had MGS6 in mind.

I was really hating the story at first because so many things I wanted/expected to happen actually didn't, I realized I needed to judge this story for what it is, and in my opinion it's one of Kojima's best written games to date. My main problem is how some of it is presented. Some stuff in the cassettes would have made for really compelling cutscenes.

But it definitely seems like the majority of the people who beat the game absolutely hate it.

Edit: actually I think MGS2 has my favorite ending in the series.

Sounds like a Bug.
Ive got quite an annoying problem too.In Mission 10 the extra prisoners, one of them being a specialist i really need to upgrade something, gets killed within 2 minutes or so after i start the mission.Do i really have to sprint into the base guns blazing to make sure i make it in time?

I played that mission too.

You don't have to sprint through. Here's what I did.

Approach the palace/building from the left side. You don't really have to crawl all the way through just make sure you crawl while the patrolling guy is near. It's an open plain, but if you time it right, (ie when they turn their backs to you) you can literally crouch walk and even jog upright most of the way through. I did this in the middle of the day as well. If it's too tough try night time.

Once you get into the building, take the stairs from ground floor to the first level. The prisoners are on the other side of this first level, opposite from where you are. You want to make your way there and find a safe spot near the stairs to the third level. Hold your position and quietly take out every guard that comes near the prisoners using the tranq gun. With quick reflex it shouldn't be a problem.

Once all the guards are down, make sure you kick them and put them in the prone holdup position. That way they won't wake up.

Once you're done taking care of the soldiers carry the prisoners to the roof and Fulton them out.

Once you're done, proceed to the big facility where the primary objective prisoner is to you can rescue him.

The prisoners in this level are really worth the trouble.

I would be down for the Hot toys treatment of Venom Snake. Though his costume is achievable through kit bashing, i know hot toys would nail it! I would probably be in for a Peg-Legged Kazurha Miller too

Phew! After 75 hours, I've finally beaten the game! :blissy

I mean, mission 46 is the ending, right? Anybody? Pturtle?
