It is the " ending ". But if you havent watched the Episode 51 stuff on youtube yet, you should watch that now. I went for days thinking i had completed everything, and didnt realise i hadnt done episode 45 until yesterday. Game is really awkward about telling you what you need to do and what is what! But even after beating the game, every now and again i will get a new 2 minute long cut scene on motherbase or something. Just out of nowhere.

So basically...

Not to toot my own horn, but I was the only person on earth who predicted the ending with such accuracy? I've been saying a gazillion times here that a decoy would make a good twist, turns out that WAS the twist. :slap

I think the twist was so obvious that nobody seen it coming!

Yeah, it was obvious from the beginning. The tagline "From FOX, two Phantoms are born", the casting of Kiefer Sutherland, the lack of personality, the conflicting morals of Big Boss in this game compared to Portable Ops, so many doesn't add up. I mentioned that it would be cool if you played as a decoy as that would make a great twist, and allows you be detached from BB. I stricly mentioned a "decoy" rather than a clone, in order for BB go commence his evil plans. It's also much more evil to have BB manipulate you instead of just being BB on quest for revenge.

I was just making things up just for fun, to counter all those "Ishmael is Gray Fox" "Quiet is Chico" "The grass in Afghanistan is the decedent of the foliage in MGS3!" theories as my opinion was that fans take this absurd series way too seriously.

One thing that still really annoys me is the lack of Hayter. Because when the news first came out, and the rumors that we are not playing as " the " Big Boss people thought it would be because we were another character so it would make sense. Which it does, but " the " big boss is also Kiefer. How hard would it of been to have Kiefer play the role all the way through the game and then the reveal at the end be Hayter voicing the original Big Boss? Thats what the fans really wanted, and Kojima gets to have Kiefer play as the Phantom. Now we have 1 guy voicing 2 different people in the same scene. Its stupid! It would work for the start of the game not to spoil it. But at the end, when we " remember " then the escape sequence could of been played as us listening to Hayter tell us what to do the 2nd time around.

Well, my theory from ages ago is that it's a doppelganger, that would make perfect sense. Big Boss was the real villain all along and you're just a pawn. There are so much allusions of duality, even from the initial trailers.

There goes my stupid theory I've been spewing for years now. Color me embarrassed!

Yeah he should have:

At least been in Ground Zeroes! doesn't explain why the voice change in such short months!

I played that mission too.

You don't have to sprint through. Here's what I did.

Approach the palace/building from the left side. You don't really have to crawl all the way through just make sure you crawl while the patrolling guy is near. It's an open plain, but if you time it right, (ie when they turn their backs to you) you can literally crouch walk and even jog upright most of the way through. I did this in the middle of the day as well. If it's too tough try night time.

Once you get into the building, take the stairs from ground floor to the first level. The prisoners are on the other side of this first level, opposite from where you are. You want to make your way there and find a safe spot near the stairs to the third level. Hold your position and quietly take out every guard that comes near the prisoners using the tranq gun. With quick reflex it shouldn't be a problem.

Once all the guards are down, make sure you kick them and put them in the prone holdup position. That way they won't wake up.

Once you're done taking care of the soldiers carry the prisoners to the roof and Fulton them out.

Once you're done, proceed to the big facility where the primary objective prisoner is to you can rescue him.

The prisoners in this level are really worth the trouble.

The trick was day time, the only thing i didn't try yesterday.Seems to me that they kill the prisoners after 1800 at a certain time.I literally started sprinting in and before i could get into the first building the 2 prisoners in that building gets killed.Could be a bug,i don't know. But during day time i had no problems whatsoever.

Kiefer talks so little in the game, that i actually would of enjoyed it more if he didnt talk at all. And have it because he was the one with the English vocal cord parasite. Or with Kiefer voicing Snake then work that in some way with the vocal cord parasite. Like he had his cords replaced.

In a game where we have a parasite that affects speech, and a new voice actor after 17 years you think they would of tied the 2 together somehow. Of course you would need to introduce the Parasites alot earlier in the game and change the pace. But it could of been worked around

In a game thats all about speech, there being 2 Big Bosses you would think somehow we would of got an explanation for the voice.

Thats not my biggest gripe with the game though. One thing i think was lacking was an actual group of enemies like Foxhound, Dead Cell, the Cobra unit, Desperado ect. Watching Third Child in a cut scene with Burning Man behind him got old really fast. And the skull boss fights were nothing special. Aside from skull face theres no cool enemies IMO. And we didnt even get to fight him! Considering he was the equal to Naked Snake at the start of MGS3 and he could of been the one to do the mission Jack eventually did we should of had some kind of epic battle of stealth and gunplay in a jungle setting.

Lets Play MGS5 part 1, with Girlgamergab/Stefanie Joosten! Weird watching somebody lets play a game, that they are a character in.

I'm around mission 44... this "story" is definitely the weakest there's been. Zero music worth noting, no real narrative, it just goes through the same motions of Peace Walker... except it's much worse.

As for the gameplay, it's probably the best the series has to offer, but outside of that it's the most uninteresting game of the series. I'll probably beat it later today and post up final judgment.

I hate Kaz and Ocelot by the way. Ocelot is the super nice guy all of a sudden? Troy Baker stinks, he's only doing Joel again... and Kaz has been on his period the whole time.

I agree with you. So much missed opportunities.

Hoo boy, wait till you get to the ending!

Also, I have to agree with Troy Baker is a terrible Ocelot since he doesn't have the sly, conniving vocals of Josh Keaton or Patric Zimmerman. I have no idea why they didn't hire Zimmerman, he sounds way younger than his Ocelot voice in real life. And yeah, every time I hear Ocelot in this game, I hear Joel. Dammit.

I love Troy Baker btw, he's an amazing actor. It's just that his voice and nose is a poor casting choice. It's like Arnold playing Batman and Michael Keaton playing The Terminator.

Anyone else get confused with the voices of Miller and Ocelot? They both sound the same. I can only tell them apart when they are both speaking together. But if only one of them speaks, I really have no idea.mlol.

Not really with some good speakers, but I see what you mean. It's better than PW, where I confuse Miller with the enemy commander on the radio. :lol

I really like the recruit system in this one.In Peace Walker, you had to do a certain misson to find higher ranked soldiers, but it looks like whoever you stumble upon now,is always the same level as your current staff or higher no matter what mission you choose.Ive done alot of recruiting and i find A and B soldiers now in one of the first Side Ops or just free roam.

Troy Baker is great, but he's in way too many games these days. The fact that one of his roles now sounds similar to another isn't a good sign, that was the issue with Nolan North initially, that Drake, Desmond, and the Prince of Persia were the same characters with the exact same voice. Drake I give him a pass on though, and now love him for, Desmond not so much until he improved, but I hate him as the Prince.

And I never liked Baker as Ocelot, for the reasons listed by Ryan and Pliss.

I'm still at the part where they keep throwing you repeat missions at higher difficulties. 4 days I have been blowing time doing side ops. I play about 8 hours a day and still you'd think after that long a new mission would pop up, but I've been getting no new important missions. I'm demon snake (permently covered in blood, can't wash it off, and full length shrapnel horn) so maybe that is the issue? Maybe I need to get more heroism and get out of demon snake mode to unlock a new story mission?
