I dunno what to say man.

I swear I’ll never ruin an ending to anything by pulling it out of my ass again. :slap

Not a fan of the ending? I know most people will hate it, to me it was the perfect ending this game. I was shocked, I thought Ishmael was an hallucination the whole time. It breaks the fourth wall, its pays tribute to us, the players, its a great way for Kojima to say bye to the series, and yet it still fits in perfectly with the whole canon of the series while still showing us Big Boss becoming a demon. I don’t expect everyone to like it but it was a great ending to THIS game imo.

Its not a great ending to the series though, this feels more like one off, and not the big epic most of us were thinking it would be, showing the introduction to a lot characters we all miss and love like Sniper Wolf, Frank Jaegar, Solid Snake, or even give us a glimpse at the Patriots. I really don’t think Kojima had really planned this to be his last Metal Gear, because it doesn’t round out the series in anyway.

Oh I love it! It's just that I called months, if not years back. Fake Boss, decoy, doppelganger. I've used them all. I explicitly mentioned that this is a decoy, not a clone undergone transformation to do Big Boss's bidding. That way, you could identify with the new Snake more. Heck, I even said it to you few days back. I like the ending a lot. It might sound weird but take no pleasure being right, it removes the aura of mystery.

Oh, yea you definitely did call it, a majority of the world wont be expecting that though, I’m reading on other forums and people seem to think the ending ruins the series and the story to this game, to me, it saved it.

Whaaa? I thought it was PERFECT. Like I said many times before, it would let go of your attachment of Big Boss, and identify with a new protagonist. In my dream world, that's how the story would end, and that's what I got. I'm really happy with it, so is Kiefer being both Fake Boss and Big Boss.

What I DON'T like however, is the overall journey of the plot. It's nanomachines again, except now replaced by parasites. And Quiet, as much as I enjoyed her character- turns out to be yet another cheap excuse for Kojima to render boob physics and skin. He's the one who should be ashamed of his words and deeds, not the player. What a pervert.

Also, where are the taboo themes? I kept waiting for them ad I didn't see any. WTF?

Well, there definitely were taboo themes, but he sort treaded lightly instead of tackling them head on. You had child soldiers from all different ethnicities being manipulated, indoctrinated, and used as horrifying test subjects. Ground Zeroes, and TPP both hinted at the abuse female soldiers go through in war.

The parasites are a plot device, I had no issue with it, its no different then using the toxin from Arkham City to to shape the majority of Batman’s plight in Arkham Knight.

I think years down the line, people are going to spot a lot of great stuff in the TPP narrative like they did with MGS2, some of it is over the top and ridiculous, but overall I think the story was great, but I just had an issue how it was presented. Each main mission should have had cutscenes after, theres really no excuse for that, I really believe Kojima didn’t get to finish working on the game which is why so many scenes from the trailers are missing, even the actual ending to the game, that was supposed to bring closure to Eli and Mantis’ story was cut and was relegated to a bonus blu ray.

My main issue with the game was undoubted the pacing, theres just a crap load of filler in there to make the game seem longer than it actually is. After I finish up all the side ops, which are really annoying, then I’m going to replay just the main missions and see if the pacing is better that way, it also might make the entire story a little more coherent.

I agree. I hope in the long run, everyone (including myself) would see this game more favorably. As of now though, I just didn't liked the story as much.

Have you played MGA2 by any chance? It's the same story more or less, but it was told better and was more engaging.

Regardless though Pturtle, this is why I always condemn fans who look too much into canon rather than giving way to a bigger message. It's their obsession that made them never saw this coming. Nobody entertained the idea that this might be a body double, and when they do- they come up with ridiculous theories like sped up clones and what not. My advice is to try to get into the creator's head and see what would be a good twist. Where it was already obvious from the Bowie song, which I loved as a kid and I know it was about doppelgangers

Also, "Ahab" means "Brother of the father".

I think with this series, its really hard to tell what Kojima is going to do, MGS3 and 4 are very straightforward, they really are about and expand the lore of the series, while MGS1, 2 and now Phantom Pain are really a lot less about the overall lore of the series, and more about Kojima trying to say something while using the series as the backdrop. If Kojima did come back to make MGS6 (which I think is absolutely possible due how much money this game will make for Konami, and the backlash Kojima will receive for ending the series with this story) I bet the story will be a more straightforward epic similar to MGS3 and 4, Kojima is horrible at balance, he seems to have knee-jerk reactions after hearing feedback from fans. TPP is pretty much the anti-MGS4, and MGS3 is pretty much the anti-MGS2.

The whole meaning behind “The Man Who Sold the World” I had no clue about. I loved the song most of my life, but had no clue what it meant :lol I really love how that song fits so perfectly with the ending though.

Yea, I’ve played both MGA and 2, they weren’t my favorite games but for an other world Metal Gear sort of game, I enjoyed them.

I loved the ending.

But what are the odds, that Phantom Big Boss is still alive in the current ( mgs4 onwards ) timeline? The original Big Boss obviously bit the dust because his DNA must of been THE Big Boss otherwise foxdie wouldnt of targeted him. Phantom on the other hand, we never knew existed. Well, we did but we didnt know WHO he was. So if he vanished, the Patriots searching for him would be looking for the real Big Boss with the DNA searches. And we dont have an age on the Phantom, he could of been 15 years younger than the actual Big Boss and still somewhat physically fit.

Doesn’t the ending timeline in the game say that Venom Snake was killed by Solid Snake in MG1 though?

Yes, he was killed by Solid Snake in MG1. If he survived, the game would have told us that. He's dead and buried. It's almost tragic.

DAMN. I never knew he was killed, i just read it. I always thought it was a " killed " but disappeared to make a surprising return in the future somehow like the real one did.

... ill hold on to hope though. After 115 hours of gameplay ive somewhat made a connection to him -_-

Me too. The game leaves alot to be desired in story and characters, but the fact the game is so long and you have to dedicate so much effort to control the game in order to progress you almost feel part of the world. I showed no interest in the figures or anything leading up to the game. Now id happily buy 4 of the characters as hot toys.

Venom snake ( idealy in the sneaking suit, but i wouldnt be too fussed either way. an alternate demon bloodied version with the larger horn would be sick too ), Kaz, Ocelot and Skullface.
And the 5th, Real big boss in his leather jacket.

Actually, im in 2 minds on ocelot. He looks a bit generic and doesnt do much. If the price is right, and i wanted to have the team id get him. But the others are a must.

I agree with everyone you said, I’d like D-Dog to come with Big Boss. I actually like this Ocelot a lot more than the MGS3 version. I wouldn’t mind a D-Walker either. I actually would like Psycho Mantis and the Man on fire as well.

Just finished it and watched episode 51 on the Blu Ray...

Wow, I truly hated the ending... TRULY... it's "A Hideo Kojima Game" that's for sure. The hack cliche twist that I suspected from the very beginning... ugh I can't believe I devoted so much time into a game to get such ****** writing.

Kojima pulled a George Lucas, and I hope he stays the **** away from any future game of the series. Four years, for this pile of ****.

I love Sahelanthropus. At first the upright stance was a bit WTF. But im a sucker for its aesthetic and attacks. Not to mention when its in tank mode its essentially Rex. And i love its look in that mode possibly as much, if not more than Rex. I can suspend my disbelief at the technology of it in that timeline. Its a Metal Gear game. In MGS3 the troops were flying around on hover platforms.

The Metal Gear itself is next to meaningless in the game though. But given how the trend of " a weapon to surpass metal gear ! " has been around in many forms for years now i can live with it. Patriots, the exo suits, and now words that kill.
