I doubt Zero had anything to do with it, this happened in the 80s and the soviets invaded afghanistan I don't know is the patrios were involved, I'd say they are involved to some degree. But Kaz was doing stuff during those 9 years... who know what hes been up to.

I don't think Kaz betrayed Big Boss maybe he pretended... he was "aiding" Solid Snake but eventually he was just an inside agent or something... and in the end whne Solid won he just retired I dunno... 90% of MG2 will be rectoned

I'm thinking Hideo is going to outright change the entire series by doing one major plot point completely differently, just for shock factor, like 'That's not what happened :O ' style reactions.

Like, I don't know, killing off Solid. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest with how he's treating the series


I can easily see Kaz ditching Big Boss, then once ditching Big Boss, who better to side with than his archnemesis?

I cant see any affiliation with Skullface and Cipher, seem totally seperate to me.

Speaking to Eurogamer Portugal, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain director and series creator Hideo Kojima spoke about how boss battles would work in the upcoming prologue. He also explained why boss battles didn’t quite fit within the context of Ground Zeroes and how there would be more traditional bosses in The Phantom Pain.
“For The Phantom Pain, you’ll have some battles with bosses but as it is not a linear game, you don’t have to go through a certain part until you get to one of these battles that typically marks the end of a segment. As it is an open world game, there are many ways to achieve the objectives. There are many paths. It depends on which path you have to take. Sometimes you’ll have to fight a boss, sometimes not. What we wanted to do with Ground Zeroes, was explain to the player that the path to the goal was not compulsory. This is one of the purposes of Ground Zeroes.
“In Phantom Pain, we’ll have many missions where there will be bosses at the end of a mission as the objective of the mission. For this part, Ground Zeroes, this was not the objective. The main mission in Ground Zeroes is to help Paz and Chico. If we had a linear game, after we save them, we had a big challenge at the end.
“Probably some boss or some different challenge up there. So, you’ll be able to choose different paths. In the next game, there will be normal missions and other missions where you deal with a boss at the end or mid-mission. We don’t have a boss in this particular mission but there will be more in the next game.”
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is expected to be out in early 2015 for current and next gen platforms.

But, what if it's all a part of Zero's/Cipher's master plan to make it seem that they were separate? After all, we saw some nonsensical things in MGS 4, like Big Mamma pretending to sacrificing herself in the fire (but committing suicide in the process), when she was fully aware that the burning corpse belonged to Solidus and not Big Boss. And there was also the Liquid Ocelot troll who turned out to be the secret hero of the series. Likewise, maybe all of Paz's hardships were part of some elaborate, cooked-up ruse to defeat Big Boss in some way .

Paz kind of fell in love with Big Boss and the Mother Base, I keep thinking about Skull face.. what is his deal with Cipher, maybe Zero was involved with his past or something

No Skull face has some beef with Cypher and Zero but thats really the only thing you learn in GZ other than that I know just as much about PP as I did before I played it.

Its an interesting theory but I think more often than not the fans write better stories that Kojima does so its probably not true.

I assumed he meant scale not length. Say, GTA V is bigger than GTA IV, although IV's campaign was a lot longer. So I'd say by saying it's 200 times bigger he'll mean maps, player models, guard models, character models, objects etc.
