With everything I have heard and read, it sounds more and more likely that the end is near for the diecast series.

I highly doubt we will ever see all the original Marks I - VII done in diecast. They MAY cherry pick another
fan favorite (Mark VI or VII, most likely), but honestly, I just don't see them doing them all.

It will be interesting to see if the proceed with the Civil War suit in diecast, or just go back to plastic... especially
with all the lights on that suit.

Don't discount a Mk II since it's the same figure sans color. Other than that, sound theory.

well it'll have the rivets on it, so some different tooling would be required to re-do the MK II in diecast

It does require some changes to the tooling but it's not nearly as hard as starting from scratch. There's a few ways they could do it, and it would cost a fraction of what a ground up figure would cost. Altered tooling is pretty common place with figures (motuc, gijoe, tmnt, wwe..all use some form of shared tooling but tweak it to accommodate the new characters) to go from the mk3 to to mk2 would be a simple reprofile of the mold cavity on the plastic parts and some tweaks to die for the DC parts. I'm not as familiar with diecast as I am injection molded (though I do have some experience)...anyway..it's possible.

As for things being DC going forward...anything that shares parts (that are already DC) with an older figure then it will be diecast as well. They aren't going to scrap everything becuase the investment to switch over to diecast was to high to just toss it all out. But that initial surge of interest in DC didn't result in an increase in sales. It's cheaper to make the plastic parts and easier..but they already started DC. I would expect most DC figures going forward to have much closer to the mk3 level of metal parts then CMC uses or other companies. But I do think they will update older Mk armors one way or another...just might take 10 years.

It still says "pre-order" on the site.

I want it to say "now shipping" before I place my order.

Any idea of a usual time frame for this?

Some nice pics on here, but I'm waiting to see some of this guy compared to the original MKIII, and the MKIII BD version (which I have the ex version). There was a time I'd have said this was my favorite armor and couldn't wait for an updated die-cast version, but now I'm partial to the MKVII with which I have both the reg and BD version and I picked up the head from the accessory set for the reg version which makes a huge difference! I'm sure this will make my BD version look very dated :( but would be cool to see both or all 3 side by side. Wonder if the new open mask sculpt from the die-cast will fit my BD version? That would be an upgrade in itself!

Here's a comparison between the two.

And a custom BD version which we'll probably see sooner or later from Hot Toys.

I was just looking for jingos pics. Lol man hologram AI your photo game is tight. Lol

The mk3dc is a lot better then the older ones.

:clap Thanks for the pic... I guess I missed it somewhere.. I must say I'm actually quite surprised that the original MKIII BD doesn't look as bad as I thought it would! :yess: :lol But as expected the new one is much improved.
The original Mark 3 looks like the kid that was skinny before he started going to the gym to buff up. Nice improvement all around on the new one.
