Amazing. What are you guys' thoughts on the newest Mark 3 though? I have seen alot of reviews and many noted that Hot Toys was particularly lazy with this one. I am not sure why though

I have the head plate, chest, and torso armor on. The rest of the pieces I did not use because it requires me to snap a few of the shoulder pieces off and also the back legs. I also did not use the repulsors that came with the set.

I actually posted about the BD set a couple years ago (see quote below). I wasn't a big fan of the set because the BD pieces were much thicker than the original Hot Toys parts and didn't match in terms of colors. How does your set fit? The reds also look different in your picture, but how does it look in person? Hopefully your newer set came out better than my older one.

I'm not sure how many have seen this custom battle damaged set on ebay, but I picked this up a few weeks ago and thought I'd post something about it. I was mainly interested in it for the battle damaged chest plate, and it looked like a neat way to create a BD diecast Mark III (not unlike the pieces included with the Mark XLII). This was also my first time picking up "custom"/re-cast pieces from HK, so I didn't quite know what I was getting into. Everything's painted well, but each piece is also just a tad too big/thick to fit flush on the figure. The color is also different from the red of the clean figure, so the pieces look out of place when you put them on. Some of the pieces have faint battle damage paint (the hands and forearm pieces), and the ones that don't aren't easily visible in many poses (like the calf pieces). The faceplate is also meant to fit the Tony Stark helmeted head, not the light up one (the magnets/tabs are in the wrong place to stay in place). And the repulsor hands are made of a rigid plastic (not rubber... yay!), which also makes it difficult for the hands to move once on the figure (and my right repulsor hand doesn't even go on because of the wrist guard.... boo!).

All of that said, I really love the idea of the battle damaged chest plate, even if it doesn't fit in well with the rest of the figure. It's got sculpted dents and scratches (as does one of the shoulder pieces), which looks pretty cool in person. I wouldn't really recommend buying the set though unless you can get it for $30. There just isn't a whole lot that's really usable to get a nice-looking BD Mark III.

Here's a picture of my current pose, plus some close-ups of the BD chest/ab pieces:

The color looks a little off but then again all battle damage pieces look off. The red from my mark 45 bd pieces that are officially from HT are off too. It's actually way more off than these BD pieces.

I've never owned any of the other main IM figures, but I'm surprised that the colors on the Mark 45 BD pieces look off. They do look slightly darker in pictures, but I thought they would match better in person. Anyways, I'm glad your Mark 3 set looks better!

I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but I finally got my Mark 3 repainted after taking some inspiration from Inigou's repaint way back from 2015 in this thread. I airbrushed on the same smoke color he used, but decided to go just a bit darker than he did to try to match the burgundy of the movie and in the old Art Of book I have. And I also lightly brushed the gold parts with steel wool to give it more of that brushed metal look it had. The biggest pain of course was masking everything off first, which took freakin forever to do.

Obviously the figure is still a bit underscaled and lacking in articulation, but I didn't really feel like waiting for HT to make another more improved version. And I suspect even if they did, it still wouldn't be the right color anyway. :p

Wow, that actually looks like the Mark III as in the move. Well done. Very cool.

Thanks guys! Here's all three of mine together for a color comparison. The others are obviously a whole lot more glossy and I considered shining this one up to match, but the more matte look just feels a lot closer to the movie in my opinion so I'll probably keep it that way.
