I'm kinda glad HT got rid of the rubber panties & encorporating those flaps on the newer IMs. Don't want the headache of repainting & the risk rubber peeling/ cracking. Opening up the flaps on the back, legs & hips kinda looks like the scene on IM 1 when Tony suited for the first time. Kinda like this except it was the Mark 2:

That looks amazing, really really happy I am going to be getting this but even more so that I scrapped the Exclusive (wouldn't have used it, glad someone who really wants it will get it) and ordered locally making a fair saving once postage and customs are taken into consideration.

What diecast is there on the top half of the figure other than the little bicep pieces?

Also how is diecast percentage measured? By weight?!

Sorry but diecast legs does not make for a diecast figure. The amount of diecast in say mark 42/43 was already a bit sketchy. Next HT will just put a block of metal inside fully plastic iron man and call it diecast.

They could, that is why in the description of the diecast figs it says "contains diecast material" so it can be 50% diecast or 2% and it is not false advertising.

Maybe not false, per se, but it's a misleading gimmick that allows them to charge silly prices to folks who are impressed by heft.

Pot metal is cheap stuff. The new Robocop has--what?--four pieces of metal on it? :rolleyes2

All I know is that if if any of my plastic Hot Toys happen to punch any of my DC Iron Men in one of their metal parts, they're gonna walk away with some sore plastic knuckles. :lol

Hate to be a party pooper but I've reading collectors' comments on a hong kong toy forum (toysdaily to be exact), a lot of people are complaining about 2 MAJOR flaws with this diecast mk III:

1) torso is 100% fixed, no movement whatsoever (does not extend, and forget about turning right or left, think Red Snapper);
2) No joint movement in either feet, meaning if one tries to pose the iron man certain way (see photo) the foot/feet DO NOT lay flat on the surface

I canceled my pre-order (from BBTS) right away after reading these comments and seeing the photos :gah:

What is the rationale of Hot Toys NOT including ab extension/articulation and ankle articulation like the last 3/4 die-cast offerings? This boggles the mind if true!

They just can't give us a perfect Iron Man. Hoping to really love this guy as its THEEEE Iron Man armor in my mind.

I can deal (more or less) with #1; it's been a topic of discussion here ever since it was announced. And I heard about #2 from one of the video reviews, but after seeing that picture, I'm not so happy about this figure. It's a great pose (and exactly the sort of leg pose I'd do with this figure), but since I loathe stands, I'd be worried about how stable it is standing on its own.

Still not sure if I want to keep my preorder or not... :gah:

Torso as expected so no suprise there but are any of the IM figs able to lay the foot flat in that position? I just tried with a couple of mine and the feet could not lay flat.

I agree the torso has been discussed extensively so not much surprise there, but if hot toys can make the previous non diecast iron man do some pretty nice pose on their feet, the ones on this are definitely disappointing

I was sooooo looking forward to this one (it's meant to be my last iron man) but now this ... :gah:
I need a beer :banghead

WUT THE **********

I don't think other figures' feet can lay flat in that position, but if I recall, they do have some side to side ankle articulation, which can help with stability. Thinking about it some more (and looking at my other figures' poses), that might not be as big of a deal as I think it is.

And to stem the tide of incredulous posts, I'm fairly certain there's still some up/down ankle articulation (plus the toes). I'm basing that entirely on the different blogger pics (and the slightly different angles between the shins and feet), so it's nothing definitive. However, if even that's gone, then I think my order for this is getting cancelled.

Mk III, IV, VI, Mk II AU, Mk 33 Silver Centurion and Mk 42 can all do it from personal experience. Silver Centurion's probably the most impeded, Mk IV's got surprisingly fantastic ankle tilts.

So basically no side to side ankle movement just forward-backward. Well that sucks! Mk3 really looks good but this the articulation is disappointing. Still waiting for an in-dept video review from clipper, shartimus, etc.
