Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Hot Toys customer service told me that they are waiting to receive my replacements from factory.

Is sure that my replacements will be from the last batch. :chew:banana

Are you getting the entire figure replaced? If so, what did you have to do...did you have to destroy the figure and send photographic proof? I've been communicating with them about the issue mine has with the ab armor, and I've sent them pics that they're having their QC crew look at, but it's a rather small issue all things considered. I'd rather not destroy the figure just because of the ab armor, and I've already bought and applied some primer/sealer and matching acrylic paint over the abs. I'm waiting a day or two to see how it sticks, but even if it doesn't, I can't see myself being willing to destroy the figure.

This sounds like a lot of grief.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

What's to say something else goes tits up in a few weeks to a month?

It's like food waiting to go beyond it's sell-by date. It's inevitable.

Until batch 2 ships though, and we know whether or not the bugs have really been worked out, the grief isn't necessarily worth dealing with. Sure all the Batch 1 figures could eventually have issues because of the identified problem, but if for some reason even the "fixes" don't pan out and all batches have that problem, it comes down to does your figure immediately have an issue you can't live with that you feel a need to go through the replacement process.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I'd hate to see if some adverse reaction happens come the hotter weather to those with the first batch. I mean just say their figures last fine until the humid weather kicks in, then what... passed the 28 day period?

One thing you have to understand, vodoun, is I live in Houston, on the Galveston Bay. It may be January, but even inside, my place averages 75 - 80 degrees with a high degree of humidity (my apartment's insulation sucks). The only issues I've seen are with the ab armor, and I suspect they arose because of the rubbing I did on that area when I fastened the belt, as well as when I was trying to clean a couple of scuffs off the rubber. Until I actually started rubbing it, the ab armor was fine. Of course, then I started ____ing with it even more, which led to more paint rubbing off.

I don't think environmental factors will do all that much, if anything, to the figures that did not have any defects out of the box. Then again, I could just choose to be pessimistic and expect everything to fail, but I prefer not to think that way.

How is it picking it up and putting it back into the foam area of the box in and out from time to time, would that create any wear? as that grey foam is very grippy. As I do this a lot with my figures.

What exactly is wrong with it? Just the paint flaking/rubbing when you handle it or is a design flaw which maybe on all batches to come?

In my case it was probably due to the excessive rubbing done on that particular part of the figure. Here's a picture.

Initially, it was only a small part at the bottom of the right (looking at the picture) armor plate. I've since spent a good amount of time screwing with the ab armor and trying to figure out what's causing it, which probably led to more of the paint rubbing off. Nothing has happened on the rest of my figure, which has had nowhere near the amount of rubbing or contact that the ab area has had.

vodoun: I'm 100% positive that the foam wouldn't do anything to it if you got one that was properly primed/sealed.

Im going to hold on till either March or May. I rather wait for the second batch. Now off to Wolverine.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

so... what's the overall verdict on these?
how restrictive is the rubber suit?
are the joints strong enough to take the stress of the rubber and hold extreme poses?

does the rubber tear?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Fortunately mine doesn't show any peeling till now. Sonar head has minor warp, I think only right ear is smaller, but I'm happy with it.
I have tried to pose him and found rubber suit a little more restrictive than v1, I guess it's because it's more tight, but most of the joints on mine are strong enough. I have manipulated him like v1, I mean touching the soft rubber, I prefer it shows defects now than months later.

I think flash is the best way to find peeling problems. Please tell me if your expert eyes notice anything.

With this guy I'm done with the DK collection, now I'm waiting for avatar figures.

BTW my DK v1 has some peeling in his butt, It's not that noticable but I would like to know if there's some way to fix it, I mean what kind of paint can I use?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

You mean the rifle :p Looks ok to me, like he's about to lift it up and into position. Nice collection btw

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

aaahhh sort the gun out on the cop figure

Looks like a cool pose to me.

Does anyone know if/when the second batch is out? Goodshipped is still claiming the second batch is out but is there any other word?
