Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I think when it pops open it will open at the seam. I don't know why it would break.

i don't know either :lol i think I am thinking too much about it in just shear excitement to get it :lol i feel like scott pilgrim waiting in front of my door for the package to arrive

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I only use the base. I have no use for the stand.

Are we talking about the elbow pads?

Yeah, I can't even begin to fathom why you cut those off.

GOD NO! there's a little tab or peg behind the bicep armor pieces that I snipped off, but that's all.

Mine took just 8 days =p. From USA to asia. Was really surprised it arrived so quickly. Bought it from rumadman.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Okay, here we go.
Step 1- Remove hands and gauntlets.
Step 2- Carefully remove the bicep armor.
Step 3- Apply superglue (I used gel superglue) to the front of the wrist of the TT body.
Step 4- Pull the sleeve down over the glue until sleeve and wrist are flush, or close to flush, and hold sleeve tight to the wrist till glue is dry and the sleeve holds firm.
Step 5- Pinch the excess rubber from the back of the sleeve, or unglued side, with your thumb and index finger. Take scissors and trim away the excess rubber. Make sure you don't cut too much off!!
Step 6- Glue bicep armor back in place.
Step 7- Repeat steps 1-6 with other arm.
Step 8- Put gauntlets and hands back on.
That's it! I would like to note that if the elbow joints on the TT body are loose you may lose some articulation. Good luck!

Hey what kind of glue are you using? I tried krazy glue, model glue and nothing seems to be keeping the suit the the truetype... :dunno

I used a generic gel superglue and held it in place for around three minutes. You also could try lightly sanding the plastic on the TrueType where you're going to put the glue. Sanding it roughs up the plastic and may help it adhere. Let me know if there's any other questions you have.

Glad to see you have that attitude about this, because when I start, I'm probably gonna have lots of questions.

Yeah man, I've been doing this stuff for years and I remember how unnerving it was when I started modding figures and statues. These things aren't cheap, and I don't want to see anyone mess their figures up. So yeah, if you guys have questions hit me up and I'll do what I can to help. :1-1:

just wanting to keep ppl updated on good deals that I see on eBay as many seem to still want ANOTHER one of these :lol or for those trying to get their first one. Here's a DX02 Batman for Buy it Now $215, or you take your chances on bidding, though I think the buy it now price is pretty sweet deal as it's just $5 more than what I paid

Here's some pics of mine with my recently acquired Commtech neck mod. Also using lforigno's velvet cape.

Even though your pics are flashed out to the max, they are some really nice pics.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Nice! Is that the long cape? Has any bros got pics of the rayon cape?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

yea I've seen/read it. the part that kind of worries me is the whole opening the socket. He makes it sound so easy :lol "sick the pliers in there and it pops right open" (paraphrased quote) <-can you tell I'm still in school? :lol

what if it "breaks right open" in stead? :lol idk, like I said, I'll find out when I get it in my eager little hands

it's frustrating waiting :gah::lol

It won't break. You'll hear a scary cracking sound when you split it, but it'll be fine. I've opened around 10 necks (or more. I've lost count) and they all split perfectly at the seam.

As you already mentioned, when you first get the figure, you will probably think you can live with the giraffe neck and the crappy cape. But after a few weeks, that will change:lecture. We all go through that. It's a process. ;)
The good thing is that after the mods, it's like you'd just bought a whole new figure and you fall in love with your Batz all over again!

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, the lightning in my dining room isn't all that bright and I just shot on auto settings (of my fairly basic camera), but they serve their purpose. :) Anyway, I was trying to match the pose from this promo pic, I think I came pretty close. Too bad the arms don't bend that high, though:

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. :)

Getting more excited for the velvet! :rock

I can't remember, did you end up ordering one? If not, you really should. :D

Yep, the TDK long.

Good to know how many necks you've modded bud. It helps with the worrying. And yea, I know the cape isn't all that great. I bought a velvet cape from lforigno already waiting to be donned on my DX when it arrives.

And yea I felt the same way about my medi bats when I first got it. I was like "pfff there's nothing wrong with this figure" then eventually modded that thing to the max!!! :lol

But do you know what page you tutorial is on?
