If I were lucky enough to find someone who wanted to trade for this, what would people think would be a good trade value? I have IM MK 2-7 That I would be willing to use as trade. Thanks.

That's tough. I'm not familiar with the value of some of the lower marks, but if you were trading the mark 7, you'd probably have to add some cash.

I just got my Iron Monger today. I had been considering getting Iron Monger since I got War Machine 2 months ago, and earlier I came across a fellow collector who was selling his MISB for below retail (he was selling it for Pre-Order discounted price). Deal was made and I committed to meet him up for the figure. Few minutes after, he phoned and was rather disappointed to find out that the last typhoon caused some leaks on the ceiling and he only found out that his cabinet where his sealed HT boxes were kept got wet, damaging the figures' boxes including Monger's.

We still met up, checked the figure and it was fortunately dry and safe inside. Lights all working. The vacu-form plastic containing the Stane HS was a little moist, but the HS itself was dry. The box was beyond saving, though. I can tell how frustrated he was so I said I'd get the figure as it's in mint form anyway, box be damned. He was nice to lower the price even more for the trouble, so I brought Monger home for about $290. I advised him to check his other figures especially those wearing clothes and pleather for mold growth as it's been 2 weeks since the typhoon and he only found out about the leak when he took Monger from the cabinet earlier.

I just checked the battery compartments and none leaked and/or corroded. I'm really happy with the purchase, and I hope I made a fellow collector's day better in spite of him having to sell the figure for a huge loss.

I'm still having trouble pulling the trigger on this guy. I don't want to plunk down 500 bones for a figure that I will be terrified to move the legs on. I just keep hovering over the confirm order button and thinking twice.

Has anyone had this guy for awhile that actually poses him fairly regularly that can comment on the cracking and if it has gotten worse over time?

Mine has those cracks on both thighs, but as I studied the articulation of the figure I noticed that the part where the cracks are don't really move at all, and is not part of the articulation point. That being so, I don't think those cracks would worsen. It's possible that the cracks happened during the assembly of the figures as the leg itself is made up of several pieces put together.

I think most guys have confirmed the cracks kinda developed over time. I'm almost 100% sure they weren't there when I opened the figure. If they were there, they definitely were small enough to miss. Now they are pretty obvious.

I guess I have to observe mine, though the cracks were already there when I opened the sealed box.

I also stand corrected, the point where the cracks are at is also articulated. For the meantime I don't plan giving Monger a dynamic pose, he's got much shelf presence just standing up anyway.

Most peeps' IMs had those cracks when they opened the box from new.

In fact quite a few collectors only discovered the problem, having read about it on forums like this and then checked their figure more closely (I know I did) ..since in most cases it's not glaringly obvious, you really have to look for it.. so although it is possible extreme poses might make it worse, the original cause appears to have been something about the way the figures' components where assembled.. the majority of IMs appear to have them.

I replaced one and when the second IM had the same issue, I kept it...still one of my favorite figures! :rock

The cracks were on mine the entire time, even upon opening. I didn't even notice them until I learned about them here. Luckily they haven't gotten worse and don't disturb the mechanics of the toy. It is a fantastic piece and one of the best HT has ever made.

Yeah, I can't believe how well-engineered this figure is. Awesome piece.

Well, there are a few guys who posted earlier in the thread that they didn't notice the cracks upon opening the figure because they were so subtle. I usually go over my figs pretty good and I didn't notice them at all and I know I was looking at that area because I was trying to figure out how the articulation worked (cause I rarely read the instructions). Once the reports started coming in, I checked mine again and sure enough they were there.

That being the case, I think the stress cracks are from the plastic not properly curing. Hence the reason the issue wasn't seen earlier but became increasingly the norm.

Just saw some new pics posted to OSR. Looks like a really nice figure? What were the issues I keep hearing that people had? And what was the original retail of this?

I think it was originally $480 at SSC. And yes, it's a great figure indeed. Only common issue is what LipSmack said, that is the hairline cracks on the hips -- most reportd cases observed straight out of the box.

the hips crack for apparently no reason, and I cant remeber

The cracks on mine have not gone worse, but I kept him in museum pose. OC in me can't unsee it though, so I drop little CA glue on the cracks, let it dry overnight, then dry-brushed black acrylic over them to get rid of the CA glue's gloss. Now the cracks are gone :yess: The thighs have some black paint airbrushed and dry-brushing black acrylic blends well. Will post photos when not too busy.
