Thats a shame.
True though if people keep buying then they get away with it.How are the boots?
Just bought a pair for my custom surely they are ok:)
Was actually coming round to thinking I might have been too harsh before but seems not.
Anybody else got the figure?
Whats your thoughts compared to the original in terms of quality?

Boots are great (just slightly darkened version of previous boots).

The base will probably cost as much as a figure on ebay. I hope I'm wrong because I'd like to get it.
Best HT sculpted base I've seen, it's very very good in hand.

Would anyone here know if it's possible to add (via molding) a hair sculpt to an already existing hair sculpt. For example, I would like to customize my Hot toys Superman Chris Reeve head to look more like the "Evil Superman" head/hair. I believe with a little "Futzing around" it could be done.....However, i would like to get the opinion of experts like the customizers here.

Would like the hair to go from this..............

To this...............

Easy enough, just use some air hardening milliput.

They will continue on the down hill, if folks complain but still end up buying these anyways. Just like what happened to mcfarlane toys.
True, there was a time not so long ago that I used to enjoy Hot Toys sets so much, that I even bought licenses/stuff that I was only barely interested in, because the quality and joy of opening a set was enough.
Those days are gone. From here on in, it's only sets with a real draw that will get me hooked.
:(

I really don't see any different QC issues from this figure compared with the regular releases from hot toys.. At least my figure doesn't arrived with any QC problem.

For me it's a really good figure. As I said before, forget for a moment that is a repaint and have the same HS. In hand the contrast between the evil and regular supes is noticeable.

I have the normal superman sculpt and it is good and it looks like they have done a nice job repainting it.But not evil enough:)
Yeah I THINK that small kiss curl is detachable, but read someone else say, you can reshape it with some hot water and then add some more strands with air drying milliput or oven bake supersculpey if you dare risk the paint work, sticking it the oven.
Chancey.

Glad they didn't muck the boots up :clap.
Saves me darkening them up.

I don't really buy hot toys that often and wouldn't buy something that barely interests me.
Saying that the jack sparrow figures do look amazing and I would make an exception for that.
The new robocop is very nice but a hefty price tag.

If I do get a robo, it better be perfect or there will be..... trouble:)

What I found particularly interesting on this was the QC. Pretty piss poor for HT, I already have been pretty vocal about the other Ex this year (Captain America) and how rushed and poor the QC on that was well, it's almost as bad here. What really makes it obvious is a quick comparison to the previous release of this figure. What we are witnessing here is a rapid decline of quality with HT, maybe it's just these con EX releases that have been rushed out, I hope so.

For me it's the sloppyness of the figure that comes forward. We are now looking at HT releases with Enterbay QC issues. Never thought I would see that happen. **** Iron Man.

This doesn't surprise me. After the Batmobile fiasco it's quite apparent that we can't expect good quality any longer while the prices have shot up exponentially. With most of my grails acquired, I'm pretty much out. Will only pick up a few key releases here and there but for the most part I'm done.

OK Captain America has shipping notices for Aug 30...hopefully Superman is next for early Sept!

Fairly new collector here, missed on the original Reeve figure. Would you guys recommend this one? Any real problems with this figure? I think the head sculpt is one of the best I have seen.

You can still find original at cost on ebay or net just a prefence of which one you want ? The 1st one is great with crystal base and superman box design. No problems with 1st one except suit is delicate and some get a suit snag if not careful with him if have rough hands or untrimmed fingernails. No problems highly recomend a favorite to have the 1st version. still payin on my evil version so dont know yet, but pretty much the same figure.

too bad you feel that way. ive been collecting HTs since 2006 and im still amazed every time i get a new one. I haven't really been disappointed in any, to me they just keep getting better every year. Only was disappointed in 1 figure i bought. Enterbay Jordan. And i sold him off. I love MJ, but just thought the figure was cheap looking. Headsculpt was amazing, but the rest I just wasnt loving and i sold him to get something else i really wanted.

Also, I only buy characters that I absolutely love. I don't buy anything just because it looks cool. Yah Sparrow looks amazing, just not a collector of Depp or Pirates, so i would never want to buy him. That goes for a lot of releases. They have to be my absolute favorite characters or movies, Batman, Superman, Star Wars and Avengers. Once in a while they make something else I love, like the Crow, that I PO'd and Prometheus, I can't wait for it to come out.

I think if you stick to characters you absolutely love, people will be much happier. Just because its new and looks cool, isnt the best reason to buy something. Save your money for something you love and want to enjoy for a long time, i think might make a happier collector.:)

I really want the Evil Superman, but i got too much on PO, so im hoping he's still available in a few months once I paid off some others that I put ahead of Evil Superman.

I just ordered my Evil figure last night. Really looking forward to it. I passed on the first Reeves Superman because the box was just too freakin' big. Plus I had hoped we would see a Clark/Supes DX version later. But this is too nice to pass up. I like the added details, plus the base looks like a killer display. I also like the fact he's in a more customary box, so I don't have to consider space in storing it.

Will they be making a Clark/Supes DX figure down the road? I still have mine and I'm debating whether to sell it to get something else like a Robocop...

I haven't heard that, but I'm hopeful they will. There should really be a Supes/Clark DX set where you have two different heads and outfits. I think Reeve's legacy for playing both roles virtually demands it. And while I have nothing but respect for that first issue figure, it truly left me wanting more, given the size of the packaging and the lack of content after waiting so long to finally see something for Reeves. This Evil Superman is a great standalone. Now they need to dive in and give us a complete DX set so Clark has his moment in the sun as well. Maybe even give us an alternate head of Superman screaming before he turns the earth backwards. I think that would be a cool moment to capture on a head sculpt.

We need 2 complete figure's like with luke skywalker release i dont care if cost more. 1 complete clark and complete superman. Then a Lex and Zod !

I hope Hot Toys does make a DX Set of Clark and in his Superman suit. They really need to. First release was great but missed out on him since at the time couldn't afford. Now he has Sky rocketed in prices everywhere so I hope they do him in DX style with a Clark and Superman 2 pack like the Luke set for sure. Definitely going to pick up the Evil version for sure. Looks pretty awesome. Soon ill order.

They did the 2in 1 for superman returns so maybe.
Would be cool if they did and any alternate sculpts screaming smiling whatever would be essential

Watched Superman III last night (don't ask) But I was surprised that this figure is more accurate than the pics the movie grabs that are in circulation, he wasn't actually that evil looking at all, hair was a bit browner, no grey, and tossed a bit. Thats it apart from a darker costume and some snarls. That's the real missed opportunity here, the sculpt being exactly the same.

My husband bought me First Chris Reeve Superman collectible when it first came out, in fact he bought me two, the special edition and the normal one. Then he surprises me with this Superman III which I was so happy about. I really love these collectibles and didn't really get into them until I met my husband. I never even knew you could get them. So I am pleased I know and I have for ages wanted a decent Chris Reeve Superman and now I have three and I am very very pleased with them.:yess:

Yeah slight modifications to the sculpt would do... like they did with the Mime Jack Nicholson Joker. I would have bought this if came with a new sculpt.
