Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I think it looks great and I love the scale but it keeps reminding me how ugly his Avengers movie costume was.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I like it! And the Hulk will be a must for this line too! I'm just hoping these sell well enough!

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Part of me wants to buy Cap just to support the line, as mentioned earlier, starting with Cap might not be the best, but they seem to already have Iron Man coming regardless of Cap's sales, and that one I will likely pick up so hopefully things work out for NECA to feel the line worth taking beyond the two of them.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Based on those pics it doesn't look very posable. It's like a plastic statue. Sort of like what SS released early on with the armature underneath. I think as long as you go into this knowing that you'll be fine. Find a pose you like and leave as is.

I don't like the pics of him holding the shield like a pizza box. Looks stupid to me. I haven't seen the Avengers movie, so maybe he held it like that in the movie:dunno

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I think what they were aiming for was him to look ready to toss the shield at someon, but it doesn't quite translate.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

No, it doesn't translate well.

When you throw something at someone you usually don't hold the object straight out at them and look at them. He's handing them his shield.

You know what...it looks like that pose could be possible. Who ever posed it probably didn't take the time to work on it as it appears most company photographer don't.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

It is surprising how much extra time and effort collectors will put into making photos really work with great attention to costume and posing, where the companies who rely on their photos to sell the product seem to settle for close enough shots. I know that some people taking adjusting of figures beyond what a company wants to show off as it builds to high of an expectation for what will come out of the box, but you can still do more than they often do.

I'm sure this cap figure is capable of more than NECA's showing.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

It looks like it can do a pretty good open stance. However, those hip joints may look unsightly looking at it from the front. That may drive some buyers away.

If I buy this figure I can see a good pose I can put him in and be happy.

In the 6" scale some joints are fine. In this larger scale some joints just glare out at you. But each collector decides what they can live with and what they can not. Take the Predators in this scale; some collectors hate the ball-joints at the hips. I don't find them visually ugly or distracting. The roundness, to me, just seems to work. Now, these joints (Cap's) I find ugly and distracting. When the figure is just standing straight up they are fine, but once that stance widens...well...:tap

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Given the size, I hope NECA gives Hulk real pants, they wouldn't be hard to make small enough, they've used cloth on their small scale figures.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

It should be something to consider. I know I own a couple of 12" Hulks with cloth pants. Movie Hulk comes to mind.

Do you have pics or details on these figure? I'm always on the hunt for Hulks and I only know of one Hulk with cloth pants.

I'm just thinking, to properly represent Hulk and get his crouching poses, cloth pants would allow ball joint hips with no joint visible, because the other options are this from Diamond Select.

Which is really ugly and a shame since hte rest of hte figure looks really good.

Or this from Hasbro.

The other issue with not using cloth pants is the flaps at the knees, Hasbro did a good job of articulating the legs around this, Diamond Select not so much.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

These are the ones I'm talking about.

Although he doesn't have cloth pants he is one of my favorite Hulks.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Oh yeah, I forgot those, I wish I kept mine from the 2003 movie, they're so pricey now, and I keep looking for that one you really like it is awesome, and it's too bad it wasn't mass available, it's better than the ones that were.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Right?! That freakin' Gamma Rage is great. At the time I'd only heard of people out in Florida being able to get them at a brick and mortor store. And, that was at a theme park; Universal or Disney.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

With some custom work, the other two could be turned into cool "statues", filling in some gaps and repainting them, but they were a little weird and loose in the joints as they were, which is why I ditched mine, at the time I had no customizing skills and just grew tired of them.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Lucky for me I sort of hoard and don't sell or throw much away.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I've developed a bit of that due to a few too many instances of tossing something out I wish I still had later.
