I hope the headsculpts for the 12" figures will improve alot since Stantz looks like crap now.

The 12" Stanz was NOT the actual sculpt... just a filler for the NY ComicCon...

Click on the one with Slimer and check out the "images like this one" at the bottom of the page. :lol

What!!! :horror:horror
That's too funny!!!:lol

Take a CLOSe look at th shoulder design of the 12 inch body. it looks like there is articulateion about 1/2 of the way in from the shoulder to the sternum on each side. I'm an articulation junkie, So i'm fascinated at how this will add to the articulation of the figure.

yeah im glad that sculpt for the 12" fig aint the final because if it was, its a BIG disapointement aha.

im still putting a c ustom set together but will be buying the mattel ones aswel.

yeah these will be cool to get. and yeah the smaller action figs do look more cartoony to a point instead of lifelike, but still keeping the actors likeness. i think they look good. however the packs remind me of the old rgb figures with the painted on straps and the pack being connected with a hole in the figs back.

cant wait to see the packaging too.

I thought Stanz was going to have that goofy head. Good to know it's going to be different.

yeah me2. the 1st time i saw that 12" pic with that headsculpt i was like "oh no" ahah. glad it was jst a stand in head for the show dispaly.

the outfit needs alot of work in my opinion tho, however i will still get them, i jst think a custom set cud have more detail, hopefuly the set im having put together will be good enough.

Some new tidbits of info from Bloody Disgusting:

LOADS of New Info on Mattel's 'Ghostbusters' Action Figures!

By: MrDisgusting

-You won't be able to find these in stores because the shelf space is reserved for "new" and "popular" toys

-At the time of the interview, they have the likeness rights to Harold Ramis (Dr. Egon Spengler), Dan Aykoryd (Dr. Raymond Stantz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddmore) and are still trying to get Bill Murray to approve his sculpt of (Dr. Peter Venkman) -- sounds like Murray is going to hold-up fans once again.

-They would like to expand the series and do figures of Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), Dana (Sigourney Weaver) and even Walter Peck (William Atherton)!

-They hope the first release will be Peter Venkman, but plan on unrolling the figures as likeness' were approved.

-Each 6-inch figure comes packed with a ghost. Slimer will 100% be the first with plans on bringing us a possible shrunken Stay Puft Marshmallow Man ghost, the librarian ghost and the taxi ghost.

-They'd like Peter Venkman to come as the slimed version, with Slimer, first.

-The reason the 6-inch figures look better than the 12 (in my opinion) is because the 6-inch were sculpted by the famous Four Horsemen, while Mattel did the 12-inch sculpts (boo).

-The plan is to get the first 6-inch out by the San Diego Comic Con, with the first 12-inch by Father's Day. A new 6-inch will follow every other month, while a new 12-inch comes every quarter.

-There will be variants (who has this type of money, crap), including "slimed", "marshmallow mess", and "red slime" (from Ghostbusters II).

-They have pretty much free reign on the animated series The Real Ghostbusters.

-If a third movie is made, they will make figures based on that, which will probably make retailers.

Unless they use the same sculpts, I don't think a marshmellow covered figure can be considered a variant. Symantics, but its a pet peeve.

Bespin Luke is not a variant of Luke Jedi either.

I'm liking the 6" scale with these...

I'm definitely in for a clean version of the 4 and MAYBE one variant of each but that really depends on the cost...

I want the 6" ones to "complete" the NECA line, I have Slimer, Gozer, Zuul and Vinz Clortho... I hope they look good together...
And i'd even display them with Beetlejuice!!

That's a great point. I'd forgotten about NECA's doomed line (doomed due to no likeness rights on the Ghostbusters).

I was excited when NECA started their Ghostbusters line. They did Gozer as the 1980 girl with the short hair, and the terror dogs, and Slimer, then the big Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. So, I thought the Ghostbusters guys are next right? Then they never came out. :(

So with what Mattel is doing now they have a real chance to make us old "die-hard" fans happy if, and that's a big IF...they get it right. The smaller 6" figures done by the Four Horsemen look great from what I've seen. The 12" ones by Mattel look...okay. Ray Stantz looks nothing like Dan Aykroyd. So I'm hoping the final sculpt will. Why didn't Mattel just commission the Four Horsemen to make the four Ghostbusters in the 1/6 scale? Weird huh?

I still have hope. I hope Bill Murray finally checks his ego and approves the license to make a figure of him in both 6" and 12".

Yeah, I'm glad it was "filler" and not the final sculpt. I don't think Dan would have liked it that much if the filler was the final one.
