Hope it's okay to post here, I'm new totally new to this hobby and I've decided to focus on More Marvel Hot toys mainly Avengers, Iron Man, and Guardians of the galaxy . Plus some statues as well.

I'm kinda lost on collecting Iron Man cause there seems to be so many of them. I don't plan to be a hardcore collector of Iron Man so i won't have to buy every piece available but i do want try to start a group group of them to collect. Can anyone recommend some essential Iron Man figures that are still pretty affordable and available that i can build my collection on. My first purchase was Mark 7 iron Man battle damage, plus i got Mark 42 on reserve, any other figures that i should be getting.

Thanks for any advice people can give.

:welcome to the board. :rock

If you're destined to pick up HT IM figures, grab the diecast Mk 42 now while it's still available retail. You may want to preorder the Mk 3 diecast as well since that's also available at retail and arguably the definitive IM suit for the films.

All of your Iron Man figure needs will be located here: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/forum67/

Happy hunting. ;)

I don't know if you're a fan of the old Iron Man comics, but even so I'd still recommend the HT Silver Centurion. It can be had for very good prices if you're willing to do some hunting and it's a great-looking figure. It's not as slickly-engineered as my Mk 42 but it holds my attention like nothing else I own. It's a pretty perfect set too, comes with some alternate battle-damaged pieces, some very nifty (and sharp!) real metal wrist blades and an RDJ likeness, plus no rubber in the joints.

Original War Machine, Mark II Unleashed and Python are all great suits and help to vary the color a bit.. plus, if you have the budget, Iron Monger rocks!.. welcome to the forum and the hobby!
:hi5:

I'd definitely recommend just sticking to figures that are still available new for regular price. Silver Centurion and Heartbreaker in particular are amazing. Don't forget to pick up Starboost which will be coming out soon. I'd personally take the Mk 43 over 42, but you could always get both. Mk III diecast for sure since that's so iconic. A War Machine is definitely a must. The diecast Mk II is great, but I'm partial to the original IM2 release.

Older figures will be hard to get at good prices, but sometimes deals pop up if you're patient. Or you could wait till they're re-released down the road. No guarantee of that happening, but it might.

Just occurred to me that any Iron Man collection really needs a Tony Stark - but I don't have one myself yet, torn between the Workshop/Mechanic figures from IM3 or the new Arc Reactor one from Iron Man 2.

Cool i've seen Silver centurion here for a good prices around my area so I'll be sure to pick that up as you guys advice. i'll definitely check out the others as well. Is the original War Machine the Die Cast one? Plus in my place Python and Midas go for pretty (Midas more expensive) high prices which one do you guys think is a better purchase cause i'm not sure if i can get both.

Thanks for the great info you guys of giving, it's a great help to a overwhelmed newbie like me. When i'm in the hobby shops they all look great and it's so easy to get excited want to get everything but realistically i know its too much for me so i was really looking to edit my collection into the essential iron man collection.

I was thinking about that myself but i was leaning more towards the Mechanic. The arc reactor has great accessories but i like the roughed up look of the mechanic and Tony Stark's hoody as well, plus the long sleeves hides the the the elbow and wrist pivot joints as well that are exposed in the arc reactor Tony Stark.

I just started reading this and am very intrigued.
I bought my first Ironman piece , Iron Man Mark XLII,got it was a really good price on pre order.
Also picked up a Jack Bauer Custom from a boardie here, waiting happily for it to arrive.
Thinking hard about pulling the trigger on a GOTG Star Lord figure, really love the detail on it and the head sculpt.
Any idea where to pick up discount codes?
I had one from some time back, before my 1st purchase and then some, and I believe it expired.

You can order it from Sideshow and save $20 using the code YEAR15.

Lucky, i'm still waiting on my local hobby shop to get any of the Guardians. I'd like to order from directly from Sideshow as well like you guys do to get it at good prices but getting things through customs in my country can sometimes be tricky and expensive.

You would need to be a millionaire to buy every Iron Man Hot Toys have produced :exactly:

That is an overstatement. If you paid retail price no where you'd need a million to buy every Hot Toys Ironman, both normal & diecast versions.
