Hossa has been a BUST for you guys and he's always been a no show come playoff time.
You do understand that the playoffs are a whole new monster, and while Marian Hossa hasn't lived up to the hype or his skillset... Pascal Dupuis has been a huge pleasant surprise for the Penguins! Who would have thought he would have been our best player so far in that trade? He plays both ends of the ice very well, and while it has been just a dozen-or-so games, he has had the best PPG avg. in his career with the flying impaired birds.
Hossa will come around, and even if he doesn't, the Penguins were (going to contradict an earlier statement), flying high regardless of the Slovak stud being highly productive or not. It's just another piece to add to the arsenal. It doesn't hurt to have arguably the two most dominate centermen to ever lace up skates on one team in the past 10 years either since Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis. Awww Those were the days. I miss 91-97.
Scoring isn't a concern for me, it's more-or-less the goaltending that is a worry. Can Ty Conklin and Marc-Andre Fleury keep up their high-level of success into the playoffs?
I gotta give it to Shai, his Habs could go very deep this year... Perhaps even to the finals. Their power play has been the most potent in the past two years. You know your PP is good when you lose your top PP guy (Sheldon Souray) last Summer, yet you're still tops in the league. You know your doing well when you can make one of your top offensive dmen into a forward for half of the season in Mark Streit. Kudos to Streit for putting up a monster season (81-13-49-62). Not bad for the former Int. Swiss captain who was taken very late in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft at the not-so-tender age of 27.
Then you have the revival of Alexei Kovalev's game, who many argue to be the best all-around hockey talent in the world in terms of his hands and feet. Guy is a slick stickhandler, and smooth skater. Amagine if he had Crosby's drive and hockey IQ. Scary!
Their team has insane forward depth. From your Kovalevs, to your Chris Higgins, down to even your Guillaume Latendresses, and Maxim Lapierres... solid blueline, but lets skip that...
One man... Carey Price.....who was the sole reason why the Hamilton Bulldogs won the Calder Cup last Spring. I saw him play my Manitoba Moose, and despite my team clearly being the better team of the two, and dominating each game, Price shut them out, and would inevitably shut down two other teams en-route to a championship title. They have quite a few of those former Bulldog alumni on that Habs roster, so they know what kind of drive and determination it will take to go all the way.
