meh, he looks just like a officer from the films. So they are pedestrian in the movies as well.

Right. But my point is... I'd rather pay $100 for awesome, ass-kicking figures than $80 for boring "meh" guys.

And that fact that they make them isn't the concern, it's that for every "awesome" there are 2-3 "mehs" in this line, so far. Because "meh" is easier for Sideshow to produce than "awesome".

That makes some kind of twisted sense, I promise. :p

I'm sure you could. It doesn't look like a difficult mod to do. Depends on how the neck and shoulder armor is put together.
But you'd have to do some repainting (at the very least) to get the look closer to ESB or ROTJ.

All I really want to do is put the fabric under the plate, no repainting required.
It could be easy but it depends if the plate is movable or not.

Boring is subjective. They are making something for everyone. That pic is made better because the officer is included.

EF is right. Its the big picture SS is going for in releasing what you call "meh" figures.

Totally agree. They have to make stuff that appeals to everyone because there are some collectors that want Officers, Endor Troopers, Rebel Troopers, etc.

I wonder why they didn't put Praji in it... dude looks spiffy with his black uniform.

They're not trying to sell him anymore really.

As for the image, it's cool seeing them all together like that, but some areas look like the image was photoshopped, not actually shot, so I'm not going to judge Vader's appearance from it too much.

The figure is big and intricate with with detail, well worth 125 bucks. And a saber is all he needs.

I think a big part of his higher cost is the specialty body that, for now, seems only of use for Vader.

Forgot about that.

You're right about the accessories but still....to me, it still feels bland.

But it looks great though, and I would get it if it wasn't on waitlist or something.

Also, I hope the inner robe is adjustable so I could make it more like this:

I might feel differently about the price if it didn't look so nice. I'm very picky about Vader, so many products have come close but not quite captured the helmet just right, and maybe even SSC's on close inspection will be off a bit, but from I've seen so far, it's the best 1/6 mass produced Vader helmet to date, and I'm just very happy he turned out that well, I was scared based on how the PF Vader looks.

Don't forget he comes with a lot of extra hands :lecture

Although a mouse droid or something fun like that would have been a welcome addition. But, for $125 I ain't complaining.

I can't wait for this one. I may pick up a second later (I've got some custom ESB/ROTJ armor).

Not sure I trust the Promethius. It's an okay body, but it doesn't blow me away the way the Truetype does. I picked up a Pred body just in case.

Vader will be on a modified armor body... which is very similar (but slimmer) to the True Type.
