Their ''memba'' strategy worked quite well on me.
:lol

I wanted to puke during those scenes.
Far worse offender to the franchise than "Da Farce Awakens" bein' one terrible reboot of STAR WARS.

The villains in the new Star Wars movies have more personality than the heroes.
Well except Snoke, he's lame.
Absolutely.
It's a shame when your cheesy bad guys are way more three-dimensional and entertaining than protagonists.

I'm talking generally - by setting it in the OT era (where naturally there will be Star Destroyers, Darth Vader etc) I loved it. I'm not really interested in other eras anymore. The PT made sure of that.

But those scenes made no sense in relation to OT, felt shoved in and extremely cheap.
I wouldn't judge the movie too hard if it was indeed its own thing.

Not full on sobbing but yeah, I teared up at the "so this is what death feels like", "daddy, no" and Shane eulogy. I don't care.

All the deaths in Logan were more poignant and affecting than anything in Rogue One.

Cholos getting their faces taken off brutally > Stormtroopers dying by a blind guy with a stick
Caliban dying by a grenade > the defecting imperial pilot, middle eastern paki food dying by a grenade
Farm father > Forrest Whitaker
The mom and son (who only made second and third place) > token Asian minority #1 (blind ver.) and #2 (heavy gunner that stole Boba Fett's pants)
Annoying Mexican nurse lady > not C-3PO
Impaled Xavier and impaled Logan > what's her name and what's his name mushroom cloud hug

The TDKR imperial man dying ironically at the hands of the Death Star and Tarkin's hands was a good death though. Better than grass. I'll give it that.

Also, X-24, Logan and Laura chopping up mercenaries in full gore glory > Darth Vader chopping up Rebel guys Battlefront II video game style

Uhhh what else.

Logan and Laura > Jinn Gon and her imperial dad
Evil Logan clone > scary horror show CGI Leia

Logan > RO :D

Which scenes? The only aspect that I have any trouble with at all is the way it leads directly into ANH and certain questions it raises as to how Captain Antilles and Princess Leia managed to deliver their denials with straight faces.

I think you're being really unfair, Difabio.

That grass scene wasn't that bad.

To each his own. I was really in the mood to be sucked into the world of Logan and wasn't moved by any of the deaths and the ones that were the most important were the least satisfying/poignant to me. You expect people to check out brutally/shockingly in a movie that tries so hard to show you how brutal and shocking it is from beginning to end.

Watching everyone die in a SW movie with no precedent for so many characters paying the ultimate price (let alone the primary lead herself) was much more impactful to me.

For me the highs of RO were much higher than the highs of Logan, and the lows of RO were still better than those from Logan.

As hardcore and amazing as everyone thinks Logan is right now I can't help but wonder if it'll just be another Sin City or Kick-Ass that blows people away because "FINALLY they went there!" before ultimately being forgotten and dropping off everyone's radar.

Oooooh, burn! Even I didn't go there, though I think many are still reeling from the novelty and hype of Logan.

Ironically, I think your comment could just as easily be applied to Rogue One! As the "dark and uncompromising"-ish version of a nostalgic Star Wars romp.

I wasn't very moved by either, but if I had to rank them, Logan was more moving because the acting was better overall, and the videogamey Vader and CG Leia really left me with a terrible taste in my mouth at the end. Grass death was a bit freaky and disturbing, and in that sense didn't affect me in the negative way it did some others.

With 87 new SW movies planned and not a single one ever featuring the cast of RO again I'm sure those characters and events will take a back seat to whatever new narrative that Disney pushes in the future. What it does benefit from though is being so joined to the OT (which will *never* go away.) RO enhances the OT and at the same time is itself benefited from that direct link.

Logan on the other hand will always be a bit tainted by all the Singerverse crap that led up to it. It also plays the unenviable role of "ruining" what came before in a very tangible sense so I can see that causing people to keep it a bit at arm's length as we've discussed before with Alien 3 and TFA.

Rogue One already dropped off the radar, into forgotten land. Only hardcore Star Wars bois care about the Blu Ray and digital copies. Just wait till Luke Skywalker pops up in 8 and the hype machine for Young Han Solo starts revving up, everyone will be like "what's a Rogue One?".

As far as Logan vs. Rogue One goes, Logan was developed based on the concept of sending off the titular character. Rogue One was developed as a filler between Episodes based on a long run on sentence from the 1977 crawl. They're both movies about fathers and daughters, except one is bland and the other one isn't.

It's over Khev.

This is my perception as well. And honestly, it's not just the movie's fault. This is the way things are nowadays. Entertainment is more disposable than ever, and audiences aren't meant to have long views on these things. But I think Logan could actually have a better long-term reputation because of the fact that it is different and took risks in the way future films aren't likely to. With one Star Wars movie a year, how long until something similar to Rogue One gets pumped out that replaces it as the most recent/memorable "gritty and uncompromising" Star Wars. If we get, say, a back story to Boba Fett, it's very possible that will fill those boots.

Hard to call a movie with so many decapitations and what not "bland" but I suppose you're right in the sense that one single unearned "daddy" moment in the whole movie can't really compare to the back and forth we saw between Galen and Jyn and how she was both the figurative fuse that ignited the drive of the Rebellion but also served as the catalyst in allowing them to ignite the real fuse at the center of her father's trap. A nice little dynamic there compared to hack/slash/hack/slash/"daddy"/*make a cross into an X.*

I think for that to even have a chance of occurring then it MUST be Jackman's last appearance as the character. If he shows up as SNIKT claims acting silly and pressing his bare ass against windows and saying things like "little girls will be the death of me" in DP2 then it'll undermine the entire impact that Logan sought to achieve.

Ok ok ok....

Lets make believe I have a gun to my head.

RO v Logan

Choose jye!

As much as I loved Logan for its intensity, gore and the sadness I felt watching his demise it's really no contest.

RO wins!

It's quality SW contained to the OT, it hits all the nostalgia buttons perfectly, has a great 3rd act and Vader Vader Vader!!!

Logan is a great Wolverine movie that would've been excellent had he worn his costume on his final assault and then died in his costume for Laura because she loved and cherished her daddy from the comic book that kept her dreams alive.

He would've embraced her Wolverine for his daughter on his final mission and it would've made the die hard fans go nuts in the theater like we did with Vader-Rebel Fleet arrival-Leia cameo.

In other words Logan missed having his Vader-Rebel fleet arrival-Leia moment in his own movie.

Sorry DiFabio, but i'm off to Khev's house to watch RO! :lol
