His comment at the end of that article was dumb.

Bluray 3D quality was great from the start.

Anyways the 3D fans predicted this scenario back in January during CES.

Jyn is such a great character especially in a universe like Star Wars. They completely sidestepped the Mary Sue angle with her. She doesn't pilot anything, can't use the Force or wield a lightsaber, she can hold her own with a blaster out of practical necessity but seems to favor simply beating people with shovels, batons, or any other sharp stick lying around. There's even a deleted scene of her clubbing Stormtroopers in the Scarif base with the two landing batons that go with her disguise.

She survives not because she's "best" in the galaxy at anything but just as a result of always watching her back and never trusting anyone. She does have a level of faith in the Force as revealed by her big "May the Force be with us" line and her clutching her necklace as they approach Scarif but otherwise she keeps that faith *very* close to the chest, even when it's a general topic of conversation by her fellows.

Her only "power" is her fearlessness and ability to inspire courage in others. That alone basically facilitates the creation of the Rebellion as we know them in the OT.

In the blu-ray special features Felicity reveals that an underlying subtext with Jyn is guilt that her father in part went along with Krennic in order to protect her. So she literally feels a level of responsibility for the creation of the Death Star itself and it's just another reason she feels compelled to offer up her own life in doing anything possible in taking it down. Knowing that makes her arc even more sad.

:goodpost: Good points there! :rock When I first saw the trailer for this film I admit wasn't keen on the Jyn character at all based on what I'd seen.

Saw the film for the first time last week (and absolutely loved it - really wished I'd gone to see it at the cinema :( ) and I now think she is great, really liked her character - one of my favourites. So nice to get a character who isn't brilliant at everything.

:goodpost:

A friend of mine said nearly the same thing about Jyn as you did, Khev. :duff

She basically announces point blank to the Rebel Special Forces that she doesn't have much of a plan but somehow makes it sound super inspiring. That's atually pretty amazing. :lol "We'll just take chonces until they run out? Sounds good to me, lead the way Jyn!" :yess:

I'm really starting to believe that her words of encouragement was really a veiled man up because this is a suicide mission speech.

After Eadu she just knew **** was going to get real one way or the other at Scarif.

She made a promise to her dying father and she was going to keep it.

And that is why I really like the character. :rock

Yep, she was always ready to die. She even stiffens up when Krennic has her dead to rights to make it easier for him to shoot her full on in the chest.

What's cool is that she gave all those black ops guys the gift of a clear conscience for their final mission. Cassian too. And then with every single one of them dying the Rebellion could live on with cleaner hands and more altruistic methods going forward.

I like when Jyn said to Krennic "You know who I am..." :yess:

Snoop is one of us jye! :lol :yess:

Gareth is such an awesome SW nerd.

He credits editor Jabez Olssen for coming up with the Vader assault.

Sorry Gilroy, left out again lol

And he came up with the idea of the soldiers being trapped and obviously filmed the sequence himself, even making calls with regard to minutiae such as backlight. So no more "the ending was taken away from him and the best scene in the movie was shot by someone else." Kudos obviously to Jabez for pitching the idea in the first place and Kennedy for signing off on it.

Saw's crew was supposed to fight on Scarif.

I'm thinking that Moroff was either originally a straight up Rebel like Pao and the monkey door gunner or that he alone escaped Saw's caverns and hitched a ride in Cassian's U-Wing.
