Options are great but if they match the pose thats in the print him reaching out will look a little strange. Generally the switch out parts don't change the pose of a piece dramatically.
Thats true. I'll be happy with just the art print and maybe a light up ring. Especially if it keeps the price in order.
Yeah, don't want this out of range for sure. After seeing the production blog pics of destroyer and that he's a pretty good size piece and $500 I feel pretty good that Sauron will be in that range.
That screencap is of Sauron reaching down towards Isildur and that kind of arm extended pose makes no sense based on Jerry's artwork or the story behind his artwork. Jerry's print is the excl. and I am more than happy with that. If SS can add a light-up ring feature to the PF....even better. But personally, I don't want a forced or contrived arm extended/ring displayed pose.
A raised right arm can give the statue a commanding aura; as if sauron is commanding his orc army to charge forward. But it is all about the artist's ability to execute an idea. An extended arm can just as easily make sauron look like he is a traffic warden at comic con.
Yeah, there is something pretty darn powerful with the pose in the print and how it will translate into 3D. Him looking over his lands at the death and destruction with his mind on ruling all over Middle Earth is gonna be sweet.
Exactly. I think Jerry's proven you can capture Sauron's essence without requiring an obvious or overstated pose in order to do so. If the PF turns out as good as the artwork [no easy task] we're in for a real treat.
Gonna be a task thats for sure especially on something that will most likely be 2-2.5ft tall and very detailed. Having both is full of win.
That would be my fear...plus the fact we already have a similar type pose with the SSW statue. And as Jerry has already stated, there's no need for Sauron to summon forth his army....everyone's dead. Sauron is merely surveying the battlefield and no doubt relishing the death and destruction he is responsible for.
BINGO!
Exactly. Sauron is about all that is left alive within 100 square miles. The scene is a quiet one, with only the hiss of escaping vapors and the deep rumble of Mt. Doom many miles away. The silence of the dead is "deafening", and Sauron's body language reflects the dark mood of the piece.
A change-out upraised right arm ( within this context ) would be out of place and would appear forced. If a change-out was provided, it would have to be subtle, but probably not worth doing cost-wise.
Now a change-out light-up ring arm with it's own battery power source would be very cool, and would perhaps be the best reason the make a change-out arm with a slightly different pose, but again, would drive up the price, but would be incredibly cool!

The 1/6 scale SSW Sauron [statue only] is 23 1/4" tall. If SS's 1/4 scale PF falls within, or is slightly larger than that....they will have some explaining to do. According to my math, SS's PF should be approx. 35" tall.....or 34 7/8" to be exact.
He's not gonna be that tall. They've never made a piece that tall before and hell they didnt go that big with Destroyer or Optimus Prime. I really think he'll be about 24.5" tall. I don't think they can do something nearly a full 3ft tall and charge something less than 1k which will be mighty tough for most to swallow.
Don't be too sure about that
