He's not gonna be that tall. They've never made a piece that tall before and hell they didnt go that big with Destroyer or Optimus Prime. I really think he'll be about 24.5" tall. I don't think they can do something nearly a full 3ft tall and charge something less than 1k which will be mighty tough for most to swallow.

Destroyer and OP are maquettes, they are not PF's and therefore they were never intended to be 1/4 scale. At this particular moment I cannot ever recall a SS PF ever being less than 1/4 scale, certainly not within the realm of the LOTR licence. With both the ML and GTG PF's both listed at 27+" tall I cannot possibly imagine a statue SS has already described as being both "huge and a centerpiece" being smaller than those two. I'm not even sure if SS has [within the licencing rights of the LOTR PF line] the ability to deviate from 1/4 scale where the PF line is concerned. :dunno And yes, I think a 1/4 scale Sauron would be priced closer to $1000 than $500.

It's quite simple - if it isn't in 1:4 scale, it isn't a PF. I only buy LOTR PFs, so if they decide to go any smaller, I'll pass on it.

I didn't say you were wrong, just remember that in the ask SS question some time ago, SS said it was going to be BIG. 29.99 inches - up!

Something tells me you know something the rest of us don't......:lecture

I almost typed I could see them hitting 30 inches tall. Should be fun waiting to see.

No, I know they're not PF. :) My point is those are usually done in 1:5 or 1:4 scale as well. Looking around I see Thor came in at 30" tall so I could see Sauron coming in at that and being in the $500-650 range. Abomination is the most expensive PF thats just standing up and he's $500. $800 was the speeder bike and I could see Sauron hitting that but I really think the 1k mark is more for items like Prime or 1:2 pieces.

How about removable fingers for the exclusive? Just imagine, little magnets in each of the four fingers Isildur cut off. :duh :lol

Question : Regarding your upcoming Sauron piece in collaboration with Jerry Vanderstelt, I was wondering if you could comment officially on whether it will fall into the Premium Format category (even if not officially 1/4 scale), or if it will in fact be one of the first (if not the first) baddie in the new maquette line? This is easily my most anticipated piece, and I know everyone is eager to know more!

Answer : It’s going to be BIG. It will be done in approximately 1:4 scale, true to the Premium Format line. If all goes according to plan, this will be a major centerpiece for the LOTR line, a very singularly impressive statement piece.

From the sound of things SS does appear to have a bit of leeway where 1/4 scale and PF's are concerned. It'll be interesting to see just how large Sauron ends up being.....I'm hoping he's at least 32", though I still prefer the idea of a 35 " Sauron. :)

Yeah, there is something pretty darn powerful with the pose in the print and how it will translate into 3D. Him looking over his lands at the death and destruction with his mind on ruling all over Middle Earth is gonna be sweet.
There's certainly something very cool about the death and destruction of man.....on Middle Earth, that is. :monkey1 :D

No problem, C!

I'm positive SS will do a knock out job on this baby!

I'm going to keep all SS points to go towards this. Right now I have close to $200 worth and more to come with what I have preordered.

Went to a local antique store today. Found a very nice displace case that is a corner one. Has mirrors on each side. Doors to the other sides. It is going to look great where I have in mind. Pics of it coming. I am getting ready for it to go right in it's new home...haha..When it comes out that is....

I have one of those! Hmmmm......depending on things, he may have to go there!

Don't like the back leg, rather see him smashing something with his mace or holding up the ring.

Well, it seems to me based on your comment that you have two choices: either create a painting yourself exactly the way you want it, or don't buy it :lol

Will buy a PF not a print. This is the PF thread you have a separate thread for your overpriced ebay prints? :wave
