where are you guys finding the 1/6 for less than 200? I've been looking for one recently

Last 3 Weta Saurons that sold on ebay were $510, $599, $610. :lecture

So I dont know what they were talking about, unless they were talking about the NECA Sauron... :wink1:

:lol:lol:lol

Nope, WETA version! I know a guy semi locally that has offered me one mint w/boxes for $150 :yess:.............I hope he's not reading this :panic:

$2k for something only 7in taller is a no brainer pass, especally as an open ES. I thought the pf was supposed to be taller, I guess not.

I wouldn't pay 2k for a piece twice that size because I just can't imagine anything being THAT excellent to justify the price.

The math also doesnt fully add up:

If Weta Sauron is 1/6 at 24 inches, then a 1/4 scale would be 36inches as both statues are upright. :dunno

Now while that extra 5 inches still doesnt make him $2K worthy, it would still help seperate it (size-wise) from the Weta piece.

This piece should be $500-$800. Otherwise, this better have a fully tailored cloth cape (with all layering, segments, and detailed stitching patterns), actually chain link (easily doable at this scale), and all the itaglio patterns on his armor, ...and a metal mace, ...and a 24k One Ring. :lecture

...and a 10 part Flex-Pay. :monkey1 :lol

well the CM Pred is only 32in, but sold for $2k, so I'm sure that is SS inspiration for $2k price tags on the LSF's. It would be cool if the armor was made like the UC Sauron Gauntlet, then it would prolly be worth the price tag, but I still wouldn't pay it.

Thats the italgio script thats etched into all his armor that I'm talking about. But this is still too small a piece to cast that sort of detail. They would literally have to make photo-etched metal parts to overlay over all the areas. Which would be utterly BADASS :horror :thud: , but something Sideshow would never do... :(

i totallly can't say that i can't run away from the awesome piece!
Nothing to do nowadays beside save every penny i can.

Wow, on the recent prices. I think several statues are seeing recent spikes like the SSW Gandalf. I bought and sold my Sauron within the last 12 months in the 200 dollar range. I also saw a SSW Morgul Lord statue sell for 100 dollars recently. I'd be patient on the Sauron, especially if the new statue is released it should lower prices on the original. I also did much better than expected on some other pieces I sold recently. I think this may be a short blip related to hobbit fever.

Prices just seem to move up and down in general. Not a whole lot of rhyme or reason to it. I think with some SSW pieces that don't hit Ebay very often you will see bidding wars just because people get tired of waiting. I think I paid around $400 for my SSW Sauron and it is a must-have piece. Even if I get the LSF, the statue isn't going anywhere.

If this goes to LSF line then it will be 2 grand guarranteed!...It will still be an awesome piece no matter what...but pricey!

That price would knock him right off my "to get" list...could not afford that price tag. :(

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

He could be epic. :rock

I'm sure he will have a really flexible flex pay schedule assuming he's in the lsf categorie.

PS: I deleted a couple posts as we're not going to tell sideshow or any freaks member for that matter to stick something up their behinds.

Unfortunately when they announced the Legendary Scale Figure line, they specifically mentioned Sauron in the press release, so I would think it's a foregone conclusion that he'll be part of that line. Which would suggest ... disappointingly ... that he'll also have the $2K price tag. :(

Even with the changes to the FlexPay system, he's probably way out of my league. Unless they allow us to do ... say ... 15 or 20 payments.

(EDIT: I just checked the Darth Maul LSF and the maximum number of payments is 5. Bummer.)

(EDIT #2: Though the newly announced STAP w/ Battle Droid -- which costs a total of $175 -- can be Flexed out over 7 payments of $25 each. Puzzling.)

Just out of curiosity, though, I wonder how the LSF line is selling overall. I wonder if Sideshow has priced themselves out of the market a little bit. Especially with the global economy still struggling. I suppose we'll know one way or the other by July. If they show a bunch of new LSF statues at ComiCon I guess that would mean the line has legs.

If the Sauron PF is included in the LSF category with a price point of 2k, then I am out of the game. I just couldn't justify that amount to Mrs Commander-in-Chief at home, no matter how awesome the figure is going to be.

$2K is pretty steep... we'll see what he ends up at. Many of the $2K pieces have light-up features, a variety of cloth formats, etc. Since he would be mostly sculpted and probably not lit, maybe this would help keep him closer to sane figures.

Thinking further... if the PF line is around 20" and this would be 30", why would the price be about 6 times a comparable PF that is 2/3 the size? I could understand a price at around 2-2.5 times that of a $350 PF, but where it would make the jump to $2000 just due to the size increase seems a little off based on poly, materials, etc. I've factored in some extra for the degree of difficulty in making larger products, but still...

yep I was really hyped for this guy pretty much a must have, but as mentioned if he indeed is going to come in a 2k then Im out 100%.
