The studios are not in it to break even though.

Why even bother going thru all the trouble and stress of making a huge movie if all you're going to do is break even.

They don't even want a small profit.

Yep. I fully expected this to crush Power Rangers, by a big margin. But in reality PR already got their budget back if you factor in internationally and it's only been a week.

Really hope it does well internationally. It will be lucky to gross $50 million in North America. The movie deserves to be successful.

Saw GITS last night and I really enjoyed it. I thought the SFX were amazing, reminded me of Blade Runner, and the action scenes were good.

The "shelling"and the Spider tank scenes felt like they were right out of the anime, with a few changes of course.

Snoop what'd you think of that moment at the end when

all of Major's synthetic muscles were bursting through her skin as she strained to tear the hatch off the tank?

I was blown away to see such a classicly anime visual brought to life in live-action.

Saw it last night. As a huge fan of GITS (and I love ScarJo)... I am overall very happy with the movie! I thought she played the part very well and looked great. They did a good job of matching a lot of the scenes. I hope the movie does well internationally, I want a sequel!

Bravo, you guys are baiting hard.

It won't work though :D

Yes the 3D was better than Kong.

Whew, figured it would because of the backdrop and colors.

Loved the score and the visuals. It looked fantastic. Loved the futuristic late 70s early 80s square lined cars.

But the movie itself was boring. :dunno I guess I've just seen everything the story had to offer in other flicks.

ScarJo's super suit and roboskin was nice to look at, but for characters, Batou stood out the most for me. Meh to everyone else.

I'll have to check out the 'toon.

:lol

Ok just got back.

Is it a good or bad movie?

For me, good BUT....

Not something I would ever feel the need to own or rewatch.

Why?

Because the story is about as shallow and predictable as it can get.

It wasn't a bad shallow and predictable mind you, still worth the watch but nonetheless shallow and predictable.

As has already been said the visuals are a treat.

The vehicles are cool, looks like the anime come to life.

Scarjo was good in the roll and sexy as all hell.

Action was serviceable but the anime still handled the action beats better in some instances.

Emotions connected when they needed to connect.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it boring like Evil did but I can see where he was coming from but even my son didn't really fidge.

If anything for whatever reason the hooded guy scared him a little, he usually doesn't get frightened.

But that's pretty much it, as straight forward conventional as it gets.

Isn't the GTIS anime known for being everything but straight forward and conventional?

Oh and the music was just average, big mistake not using the correct theme during her creation.

So March ended up like this for me:

1. Logan (mostly unconventional)
2. GITS
3. Power Rangers
4. Kong

Btw, Imax 3D showing in a heavily populated area and only 15 people there and that includes my group, ouch!

Sorry Scarjo, no repeat of Lucy.

She wanted to show Marvel that she could carry a superhero movie on her own.

Feige just saw everything he needed to see.

Yeah same amount of people in my auditorium. This will be gone soon. I put it ahead of Logan not because the filmmaking was better but I think GITS will be a fun background movie to have on from time to time.

Logan had the best box office % hold in the top 10 this weekend! :panic:

That's actually incorrect, Get Out had the best hold then Logan.

GITS failure is being blamed for it not being R.

We might be seeing the end of PG-13 action movies.

Makes sense to me, real life is much much worse than any PG-13 movie, people are so desensitized from seeing so much bad stuff on the news that a PG-13 movie is a joke.

Yeah the upside to GITS failing is that now we won't have a wave a half-assed cash grab copycats that taint other properties. Not that I think GITS is tainted but the next anime flick is gonna have to go all out to succeed where it failed.

Yes sir lol

PR is still a fun movie.

GITS is gorgeous to look at.

Now that Elon Musk is investing billions into Cyber enhancing the human brain we're pretty much heading in the direction of this movie.

So instead of people being addicted to their electronics they actually just become it.

So in about a hundred years from now humans will literally have to be plugged into a socket to be charged lol.

Yikes!

It's for the better, who ever created us slapped 5 leashes on us which severly slow us down and gets in the way of progress.

1. Hunger
2. Poop
3. Pee
4. Temperature tolerance
5. Sleep

Get rid of those 5 and we would be on Mars next year.

Hurry up Elon I want a Terminator child!

Oh man the monday morning headlines will suck for Scarjo/Paramount...

"Scarjo Movie a Ghost"

"GITS Flops!"
