Snoop what'd you think of that moment at the end when

all of Major's synthetic muscles were bursting through her skin as she strained to tear the hatch off the tank?

I was blown away to see such a classicly anime visual brought to life in live-action.

I thought that scene was awesome and right out of the original anime. :yess:

I was blown away as well. :duff

And for the record; my theater showing was sold out. Which really surprised me and my friends because movies like GITS don't usually do well over in these neck of the woods. :lol

One thing is for sure, even though GITS wasn't great per se you don't get better visuals than Weta Workshop and Weta Digital so it will forever have these near perfect live-action representations of the most iconic moments from the anime.

What elevates the film above it's "familiar yet done better in other films" vibe is the theme of loneliness, sadness, and isolation that permeates the movie from beginning to end. Without those emotions it's just a bunch of cool looking visuals, most of which we've seen before. I typically find that the best sci-fi for me is often slightly uncomfortable to watch, be it Terminator, ALIEN/ALIENS, Blade Runner, RoboCop, The Matrix, District 9, Ex Machina and so on. You love the characters but you never want to be them. Which is why Avatar never could take hold IMO. I never really felt bad for the characters, hell half the world wanted to GO there and BE them. But GITS has that vibe I like, even if it isn't as good as any of those previous films I listed.

Agreed.

I felt that even more when Major said she couldn't feel her body. That would freak me out if I was in her situation.

The projected studio loss is 100-120 milion dollars.

Yikes!

I always wonder when this happens do the main stars, in this case Scarjo, lose part of their total salary.

I would say no unless they had a percentage deal.

But it prolly costs her a Black Widow movie.

Oh yeah her star power just went down a few notches meaning she can't demand as high a salary.

You're only as popular as your last movie.

Time to get on those knees again.

Right about now there's some fat white wall street dude who's bankrolling her next movie doing this :yess:
