Damn. Honestly, if I caught a deal at $200 I'd buy a second Hulkbuster for sure.

With House of M, if I'd thought about that price instead of just pressing preorder I'd have held off and just waited for a sale or something. I don't see this one selling out anytime ever. Oh well; live and learn.

Late to the party - but received my original War Machine in the mail and that thing is awesome. Just became one of my favorite figures already. and the red lights add such a presence. next up for me is going to be the Shape Changing Armor - going to be patient for this one.

I think these look great. I'm lurked and considered getting 1 for a while now. The price point has kept me away though. My only reference point is Hot Toys Iron Men. Can someone who has these and some Hot Toy Iron Man figures tell me how they compare in quality and feel? And if they think they are worth it?

Depends. They're very nicely-made for the most part (I would honestly just avoid convention exclusives though), but they're a completely different design paradigm to Hot Toys. These are designed to be a playable item. Really clever, innovative engineering, weight distribution, balance, etc and fantastic display bases but not much consideration given to hiding joints and things because that was never the aim. The light-up features are especially well-handled and I like that aspect a lot more than the HT releases.

If you want to dip your toe into the line I'd recommend picking up the Extremis armour as you'll find the best deals on it and it is absolutely gorgeous to look at.

Oh, and just to add to that - there's a swings-and-roundabouts thing going on with the paintwork, there's no panel lining to speak of but the metallic finish is way nicer than anything Hot Toys do. I think it's done in a similar way to how they finish cars.

I personally prefer to focus on Hots Toys and pick these up when I see a good deal on them. The Sentinel figures are always pretty painless to hunt down and I have always paid below retail for them. Hot Toys are typically far more impressive to most people, sell out much faster and hold their value better than the Sentinel figures so I consider them the safer bet

Like I originally said, they look great. And most opinions on here are very positive. It's that price point that always stops me for that size.

I was in the same boat as you. Hard to consider pulling the trigger on these figures when the price point is near Hot Toys. They sit roughly around the $200 price tag and some Hot Toys are $250ish plus depending on diecast or not. But like Plastic stated - they are very different from HT. I have HT War Machine Mk 1 Diecast and Iron Man Mk 3 Stealth Diecast - and they are huge and hefty. Nice weight and quality is really high with great details. I have Re:edit Iron Patriot and War Machine - these aren't hefty or have much weight to them (they are not full diecast and more than half the size of a HT). I also purchased both the re:edit below retail during sales and use of coupons - which helped with the purchases. FYI - Barnes and Noble has the Iron Patriot on their website. They always have coupons and deals to help with the price. I purchased Iron Patriot for about $100 and War Machine for about $120.

Hot Toys are indisputably more value for the money. And this is coming from someone who owns every single one of these Re: Edit figures.

I kind of disagree, honestly. The HT plastic Iron Man figures might be not much more expensive than the Re:Edit releases, but they're nowhere near as much fun to own. Great if you want to put a figure in a slight pose and lock it in a glass cabinet for the rest of its natural existence. I'd say if I had the choice between two more Re:Edits and one HT Diecast (those are coming in at consistently more than $300 at this point), I'd go for the former.

The Diecast Mark 42 in my pictures above actually isn't a very fun figure to own because the weight of the metal is all over the place and the ankle joints aren't as sturdy as they could be - sure, it looks great, but there's no way I'd leave it free-standing in a pose for even a few seconds. It feels like it constantly wants to tip over without its (very restrictive) hall of armour display stand, and it's too heavy to be used with a dynamic flight stand. It kneels like a champ though :lol

In short it comes down to what kind of experience you want, I suppose. That and if you're only interested in the film designs, or if you want something more comic-oriented and stylised.

I'm not going to wall-of-text but my side of things is that for the Re: Edit line you're paying anywhere from 180 to 300+ bucks for 6-7.5" (obv. not counting hb) pieces with light diecast and a miriad of q.c. izsues from paint chips to parts falling off to the electronics not working (I've liteeallt exchanged ones of my own for each of these) where with Hot Toys you're barely paying more for 12" pieces that are relatively well built and have a more premium look and finish.

The reasons I personally prefer the Re:Edit stuff is because of my preference for comic suits and chemical attack's amazing engineering. Although I'm completist and continue to be, I'd be completely disingenuous to sit here and act like they're anywhere near worth the proce you pay as products.

Not going to drown you in words, but honestly HT don't do any better on the QC front. Shattering joints, rubber parts that not only rot away - sometimes in a matter of days - but take the rest of the figure with them, fading paint apps, exploding batteries, etc. On top of that their customer service is literally nonexistent if you didn't buy from Sideshow or Secret Base.

I had to replace an entire arm at my own expense on the DC Robocop within a week of buying it because the rubber elbow perished, then pay out more money for Honda silicone grease to treat the other rubber parts on the figure with. The DC Mark 42 was the first HT IM figure I bought and only after paying for it did I discover that the entire first batch had shoulders that sheared apart at the joint. Same thing with Raiden's elbows. Despite claims from others on the forum that paint fade issues are a thing of the past, I've got pink parts on several of the more recent IM figures, including all the spare hands and both sets of wristguards that came with the Mark 42. I've bought figures MISB only for the batteries to have corroded inside the figures. I've even had to rewire the arm on one of them to get the lights working.

All things being equal, neither line is perfect.

On a personal level, I've had a lot better q.c eith the hot toys I've purchased vs. The re: edit and considering i e bought more than doublev the amount of HTs and no issues, obviously I have a much better ratio for them.

Also, with Sentinel it's the same way in terms of service. If thou didn't buy from their online shop thou just plain aren't getting helped. I stabd by every single word I've posted about this grossly overpriced line which I'll continue tp collect becayse of the reasons stated that I also still stand by.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this, I guess :duff

I put some of the Re:Edits in the same cabinet with the HT Iron Man figures, after weighing it up with some serious thought for a few days looking at them side-by-side I think in all likelihood I'll only be collecting the former from this point on.

Absolutely. There's no right or wrong to opinion and preference and it's good tp be on a forum where opposing opinions can be discussed without toxicity.

Well with that smoothed over - why do these companies have such godawful customer service? I'll never understand it. Guess I was spoiled by the glory days of ThreeA when they'd take anything in for repairs even if it was a gift or secondhand.

Nothing was needing to be "smoothed over."

Re: CS - I don't look at it as awful at all but moreso self-preservation. If I'm selling something and you chose to bypass me to buy from someone who bought it from me and is reselling, then utilize them for help when what you bought has problems. Simple and absolutely fair logic.

Ive had multiple issues too, luckily one was through HLJ and they replaced it, never had an issue with hot toys personally
