Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

After all my complaints about price I'm still very tempted to buy one.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

i was hesitant due to prices on these but got bleeding edge awhile back and wow... yeah lived up to hype and price easily. still wowed by it and had it for months. want extremis but its essentially another red and gold armor may wait for war machine.

sooo hope they do a RE:Edit Ultron.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

If BBTS has opened pre-orders again, does that mean the figure is no longer a con exclusive? Or have they just imported a load of them?

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Oh, absolutely. But even the recent plastic suits like Silver Centurion and Heartbreaker are $250 at retail. In my experience half-scale items do cost less to make, but not half as much, so Sentinel's price-point does make sense. I guess they are competing with 1/12-scale figures from Play Imaginative/Comicave, which do contain a lot of die-cast, but these seem better-designed so I think Sentinel may have the edge here

I gotcha. Yea my mkvii stealth was over $300 but I thought that it was just exclusive pricing. It's unfortunate, because I don't see more than $200 or so in value for a plastic ht suit for me, personally.

I wish play imaginative would have stayed 1/6th. I was highly interested at that price but at 1/12th I could not care any less that they exist.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Their 1/6-scale figures are a lot more expensive than their (already very expensive) 1/12-scale offerings, no? I can't find an MSRP anywhere but I remember PI's diecast Batman being well over $200 and one angry customer says he paid $500 for the MKVII Iron Man (which promptly broke, of course). To be honest, the 1/12 PI figures are decent deals at the current BBTS prices, assuming you get a good-quality unit, but their earlier 1/6-scale stuff didn't seem up to snuff at any kind of premium price, let alone the very high prices they were asking. I honestly don't know how I feel about that company. The Comicave name seemed like an attempt to start afresh, but their Mark XL 'Shotgun' figure actually seemed a little worse than the previous 1/12 Iron Man suits (I did a review of it a while ago).

To bring the conversation back to Sentinel: I've contacted BBTS asking if Iron Patriot is still a limited release because I'd rather not buy two if I can help it. There doesn't seem to be a cap on the preorder so perhaps Sentinel is producing a lot more. Still, that Bleeding Edge suit is my current favourite—just waiting for one to come along at the right price.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

P.I.'s 1/6th were about $400 plus shipping. I bought at retail and that's why I know. Even with the bigger price, I felt that they were more competitive in the 1/12th market than the 1/6th where companies like Sen-ti-nel and Bandai already have a lock in terms of following and quality. At least at 1/12th they could have only had to deal with one major competitor in sideshow... I wish they stayed 1/12th and stuck with comic stylings instead of moving to movies; bam! Instant niche that I know I personally would've been a part of. Their batman is probably my favorite 1/12th figure period, and it's a shame to see them switch things up.

I agree on bleeding edge... aesthetically, I like extremis better but the engineering with the sliding panels on B/E is incredible. I will occasionally find myself taking it out of the detolf and moving it around just to see them slide around.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

That's true—1/6-scale figures with comic looks are few and far between. What do you think of Batman? Reviews I've seen are mixed but it looks wonderful and I'd probably get one, provided articulation and build quality was solid.

IT's pretty awesome and has held up well during these past few years I've had it. Solid build, but there are definitely some areas like the should armor that you have to be careful with.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Does anyone know of a good deal for Bleeding Edge online somewhere? Maybe at a smaller site? I can't seem to find one under $180 anywhere

That's actually about what retail was on it. 18,900 JPY+shipping.

This one has more engineering to it than the extremis armor with the sliding panels and stuff, so between that and the insane candy paint job, the higher cost really explains itself once you get it in-hand. I was surprised at first by the cost difference, but after you've put them side-by-side and messed around with them for 5 minutes, it makes sense.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Ganked this from another forum, didnt see it here... Ive never been so torn. I need this extremis Iron man as it is the best to date, however $170 is very off putting... yet its cheaper then HT's. #Firstworldproblems
what do you guys think?

I recently got to examine a friend's Bleeding Edge figure and I can say that it is a stunning figure. Really and truly impressive.

The design of the articulation is amazing. The helmet tilt/neck articulation, the ab crunch/torso mechanics, the thigh and waist design are all incredible and allow virtually any pose with the joints looking gorgeous and natural while doing so (I'm looking at you, Hot Toys).
The paint apps are perfect: crisp with a killer contrast between shiny metallic and matte finish.
Flying poses, kneeling ground punches, dual repulsor blasts -- this figure can do them all and looks really good doing it.
This is leagues beyond the Toybiz marvel legends era.
The light-up eyes and chest are cool, but I've never found that gimmick to be particularly impressive unless you're in a dark room.
The figure is light in weight and feels a bit like a model kit -- it's a fragile thing to be sure, but there is genuine innovation in the joints & articulation.
The engineering must be seen to be fully appreciated.
And the paint job looks like a Ferrari and Lamborghini made love and produced a god-child.

I know nothing of this company

Sentinel makes good stuff. They're a boutique toy company with fairly small production runs and boutique prices, but their attention to detail puts them near the top of the pile. They make figures for the high-end collector, and their prices reflect that.
Is this figure worth $180? That's up to the buyer.
But, now that it's sold out the after-market prices have jumped so one must ask: is it worth $200 plus?
I personally don't think so, but my opinion hinges on the fact that I'm not a big fan of the Bleeding Edge design.
If Sentinel were to produce a more retro armor that looked this beautiful, I might be hooked.
Your mileage may vary.

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

I feel like BBTS won't make their September date for Iron Patriot :impatient:

Oh well. Still on the hunt for these things at good prices; they just look so cool. Hulkbuster is definitely on my wanted list too.

HobbyLink Japan I've found more often than not has the best prices for pretty much all import figures, and I've heard nothing but good things about them. I've made my first preorder with them for the Sentinel Hulkbuster, which was about $70 cheaper than BBTS and their shipping options are super affordable and haven't seen too many complaints from people here in the states ordering using the cheapest and slowest option.

I also have to echo what everyone else is saying, Sentinel makes absolutely amazing figures. The prices are sometimes hard to get past, but their pieces are usually the ones in your collection that you can't stop looking at and stand out. My first Sentinel figure was the diecast Black Getter, and oh man is it beautiful

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

That Getter looks awesome; I wish they were still being sold for close to the original price

Just got an email from BBTS: Iron Patriot is shipping! :clap

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Bumping this thread since War Machine should be shipping soon and I'm wondering what you all think of it. Again, if you have a bleeding edge suit you're looking to sell/trade, message me :wink1:

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Great photo; that Stark head-sculpt adds a ton of personality. If only we could swap the heads on the other suits.

Bumping this because we should be seeing War Machine land soon and I want to know what you all think of it (read: post your photos so I can drool over them :wink1: )

On a less-related note: I've been looking at some of the other figures Sentinel produces and they're nowhere near as expensive as this line. The TruForce Megaman figure, for example, look equally well-engineered and have all the gimmicks you'd expect, and it's $80. This seems to go for the more expensive lines as well: the Armarauders Bellerophon is expensive at $260, but you get an awful lot in that package (accessories, a comic, a huge diorama, etc.), while Sahelanthropus and Hulkbuster are $300 or so and come with basically nothing. I know it's to be expected with licensed figures, but it sure is frustrating :slap

Re: Sentinel (company): Iron Man figures - 6 inch scale

Announced a few days ago, Toy Soul exclusive:

Armorize Iron Man, metallic version (via ToyArk)

When I first checked a couple of days ago, the BBTS listing for this figure mentioned it had some unspecified 'enhancements' over the original, but I can't find that line in the current listings. At any rate, this looks like a cool repaint and I don't own the original, so this is probably a buy for me.

I might have been quite harsh on the standard version a few pages back, but it's really grown on me since then and in short - I NEED that metallic version :drool

Does anyone know of anywhere I could preorder it that isn't BBTS? I'm in the UK, so anywhere in Europe would be preferable.
