Sideshow Darth Maul Sixth Scale Figure

I've never bought a high end Darth Maul because he has always looked off in some way. This looks spot on. I'm remaining a bit skeptical though because I feel like it's easy for any decrease in quality to throw off that expression or likeness. Those eyes have to be perfect.

If they really dropped the 2-piece eye system, I believe Maul with his painted face is much easier to deliver than a regular skintone guy (eg. X-Wing Luke).

SS had a failed experiment where instead of painting the eyes of a sculpt, they made the eyes a part of a plastic insert that was placed in the hollowed out sculpt with empty eye sockets. The plastic insert often distorted the sculpt, the "eyelids" weren't factored in the opening, and it just looked like ****. A couple figures came out OK, but for all intents and purposes, it was a better idea on paper.

That's interesting because I swear Maul looks like his eyes are separate in this proto, so they may be using this technique, or at least used it for the prototype.

I love Maul, and I missed the last one, so I may get this. It will all depend on if I pick up Captain Rex from SS.

This seems pretty obvious from how good the figure looks. From Rebelscum speaking to SS:
- Sixth scale Darth Maul re-vamp (new sculpt, body, etc - no reuse of parts from previous version at all)

This figure is probably going to be bad ass.

But honestly with all the original trilogy stuff coming out... cockpit, bounty hunters, leia, han, chewie, x wing luke, obi wan, maybe even a damn tie fighter... I'm just happy I don't involve myself with PT stuff. #OG4lyfe

On the other hand... I have to keep convincing myself to keep my SSC Gi Joe collection. It's impossible to have both, living in NYC. Unless I move upstate and get a two story home with a basement..... I can always keep them at my parents on Long Island, but what the hell is the fun of that!

Wow, more than i realized. I didn't know about Supes, Bats and the Clones because I didn't follow those threads. Damn shame so many had to fall victim to that really bad idea before they abandoned it.

Not for a very long while... Just like they probably won't make Artoo and Threepio since SS did that. Wouldn't make sense for them to undermine each other's figures.
