You and I both. It's the only sixth scale Sideshow figure I must have.

I'm eager to see the robe and if we get a second portrait, the accessories on the original were very nice so I have no concerns there, the base outfit's looking good so at this point the robe is the only area of quality concern for me and I just want to see if there is another portrait and how it looks.

Yeah I agree hopefully nothing throws it off. But as great as his head looks with those horns I'm likely going to display him in the base outfit anyway sans robe.

Oh I'd rarely use the robe outside of my photography, just more wondering if they improved from their first Maul.

I don't think it's unfair to expect that they have. But like i said typically I think robes on these figures usually make it look like a toy. They look baggy or clunky and hang alot.

But they should be ever-improving

I hear ya, the Medicom Maul robe is a perfect fit, the only problem is part of it is this silk like material, just the wrong kind of fabric. Sideshow's first was actually pretty good too other than the hood being to small but their whole outfit was a really stiff material that didn't quite feel right for Maul.

These companies can never get loose material outfits right. HT made MOS suit and AoU Cap suits perfectly, but Batman capes look bad, and Leia's robe looks thick and clunky.

Looking forward to this figure. A Theeds generator base would be a nice touch. Of course, an additional angry portrait.
I don think HT could top this unless the make his Sith speeder and light up sabers.

The two biggest issues holding the sculpt back were the paint-job (as mentioned, given the price and date of release, it wasn't bad) and the passive expression (which could have been better even at the time and the price). With a repaint, and some slight modification (sculpted eyebrows and upper eyelids removed) the sculpt can look pretty good:

I like the look of the new Maul, but I'm not sure yet if I want to upgrade. I will definitely get at least the boots, clothing and sculpt remains to be seen. I'm pretty happy with my custom body in terms of proportions, I think it really reflects Ray Park's build, so I'll wait until release to see if I want to buy the whole thing, or just get some parts.

The first picture of your finished Maul is incredible. The expression of his face is spot on. You nailed that controlled hate he shows in the movie before he goes full rage mode. If it wasn't for the tattoos not being painted exact I would have thought that was the actor. I wish I could do that.

This is the only PT character that I would consider getting in Sixth Scale (I have and love the Shaak Ti PF Statue) - always thought that Maul was criminally underused in the Prequels.

This looks like an awesome sculpt and I am very much in!

Now that you remind me, we really DO need a 1/6th scale Shaak Ti. And Dooku of course. Wouldn't mind the other ladies of the Jedi Order getting some figures. I have the Hasbro Barris Offee and she looks silly compared to the SSC, her and Master Luminari need to be made.

Yeah same here. Regardless of the quality of the prequels, the performance and character design on Maul is just so memorable and badass that it kinda stands on it's own as far as I'm concerned.

He's basically the PT's Boba Fett, awesome character design, not too much known about the character allowing fans to fill in what they want/imagine, killed off too soon (or stupidly).

Yes, Maul was a great bad guy. As you said not a great death but at least he took being sliced in half like a man. He basically stared down Obi-Wan even as his torso quietly fell down the shaft. That at least was pretty bad ass.

Best character of the entire PT.
