This is the one and only prequel figure I'd be tempted to get, but right now there are too many other SW figures coming out in the next couple years (Rogue Vader, Jyn, Jedi and Ep 8 Luke, Bespin and TFA Han, Hoth Leia, etc) that are a much higher priority for me.

My only prequel figure I am interested in also, I admit I'm tempted...Sideshow has burned me before however with the quality on their DC 1/6 figs. So I am still a little undecided. Some good in hand pictures and reviews will probably get me to bite.

My goodness if this doesnt even come with the standard black stand at this price, Sideshow have really tried to cheapen out on it! Hopefully it at least has a stand, since I'm still disappointed it doesn't even come with a bloody robe!!

It has. 25 cents worth of stand. Price still sucks. Its bare bones figure.

If the sculpt and paint work look exactly how it does in those promo photos then I don't mind the price tag. But if they do a Hot Toys and the quality from the promo pics majorly decreases I won't be happy!

It's Sideshow, they are known for ability to screw up in the last minute. At least with human figures. We will see. I would love Maul too, but i'm still hoping for HT making him.

Hot Toys usually does a good job of matching the proto, if not surpassing. Affleck Batman for example. All I've ever heard is how bad Sideshow final products are.

If Maul looks as good as the proto I'll probably get him, if not I'll just wait for HT to get to him in a few years.

Whilst a Hot Toys final product never disappoints, I don't agree that they're ever as good as or surpass the prototype, at least not where the painting is concerned!
They still look incredibly life like, but they just lack something the protos have. Best example for me was Bespin Luke. Great figure but the proto was simply stunning!

There was a pretty big drop-off on ANH Luke as well I think, although that may have more to do with the sculpt than the painting.

You'd think Sideshow would have a pretty easy time with the simple black and red paintjob for Maul, but I'm sure they'll still find a way to simplify or dumb it down.

Got mine in today and i am really pretty impressed. I think he looks great but i'm sure someone will find something to complain about lol

Whoa -- he's released!?

Need more photos please.... pretty please....

So far, I notice that the gloves and boots are not the same deep black "leather" look as the belt. Is it the lighting, or is it Sideshow's choice of "dark gray plastic" similar to the TIE pilot that was wrong too?

Also curious how tall he is relative to other figures.

I'll be the dbag to say I told you so in regards to the stand. I knew SS would provide a stand from day 1. This is the first SS figure I've ordered in 2 years. Need me more Mauls!

Well the belt is a vinyl material while the gloves and boots are a black rubber plastic. In hand the gloves might not be the exact same shade of black, but it's pretty damn close. As for his height, at the tip of the top horn on his head, it puts him at just about 12 inches tall and no it hasn't officially released yet, but probably fairly soon
