Maybe this is SS's answer to the money they've lost due to the lack of interest in their clones that were releasing every week?

i'd actually buy a reissue of Jabba and throne.

How is this any different from Hot Toys releasing a new Iron Man with a different paint job? Man that gets annoying to see.

:lol

That was terrible, even back then.

Ah the good ol' days... when we were satisfied with less.

:lol I remember when the Jedi Luke was released it was easily one of the finest 1/6 I'd owned... but now he's just good for the outfit and a few accessories :lol

It is, but at least those are (for the most part) legit versions from the movie... I think the issue is more with IM III going crazy with the all the variants of the suit that had a few blurry seconds of screen time.

I would actually dig a rainbow colored Vader, or a white one like their prototype Boba Fett.

Don't get me started with the whole ironman thing. :wink1:

I don't have a loyalty to either company. I just buy what I like and what I want to afford.

This might be appealing if it was priced a lot lower. It's not really something you'd buy on impulse at $230+shipping and tax. Not sure what they're thinking releasing this when the superior Hot Toys Vader is about to start shipping

:goodpost::exactly: If they wanted to release an Economy model it sure as hell better have Economy pricing.

SS standards have gone down:slap

Look at this saber

Yeah, the did the same thing to Hoth Luke's lightsaber... I get the idea of adding some texture to make it looks like it's ignited/surging with power; but the lightsabers are always very clean and uniform throughout so adding it just just odd and gives it a bit of a hasbro look.

Guys, let's keep the SSC hate down? I mean, the rest of us get it: you are on HT's ***** right now. I am too, but I don't feel the constant need to hate on someone else! Criticism is one thing, but this thread is more like a riot!

Eh, this is pretty tame, Matt. And anyway, we can let the mods decide when enough is enough! :D

Yeah, maybe! I just feel bad for SSC ya know? Lots of hardworking people there who are 'suffering' as a result of the higher ups there that want to constantly take the easy road with these reissues. People that make the decisions at SSC frustrate me, though

Sideshow is all about capitalizing on DAT STAR WARS HYPE. Right now, people will buy anything and Hasbro, Sideshow, Hot Toys, etc. know it. Whether it's a video game repaint, a "Chocolate Stormtrooper" or a needless, thrown together "reissue". Vader? Shoot, people are going to be on that like flies on dog ****.

Some average Joe is looking for a 1/6 Star Wars doll, they see this, it's going to be enticing to them. Hell, maybe they get it confused with the Hot Toys version since they're both on there for the same price and buy it. Sideshow isn't dumb. Ain't about the craft anymore, it's about those dollar signs. Can't blame them, it's business. Hot Toys is going to do the same BS when they get long in the tooth and have all these tools and figures at their disposal. Hell, they already do lame repaints and reissues.

I appreciate your pov; and to some degree, I am right there with you. I guess I just can't fault them for trying to make money. If I ran a business, that's what I would want. Of course, I would have re-worked more than the COD piece to justify the reissue....

They say they have:

Finely tailored costume featuring a two-piece fabric body suit, quilted vest...
Eight (8) newly sculpted interchangeable hands...

But I'm suspicious of the new suit as they're hiding the legs in darkness to possibly conceal the fact that they haven't solved the problem of the horizontal wrinkles.

Only a Matt(er) of time before this thread gets locked anyway for not having "in-hand" pictures yet. :lol

Yeah, will wait for pics...and I would be interested in some new parts via Toy Anxiety, but their prices have gotten high (of course with the base price higher now), and they sell out FAST!!!
