The suit looks quilted in some areas like the chest and not in others like the arm. Kind of strange. I don't know how they ever went with that terrible deluxe version suit when they got it mostly right with the original version

Yeah, maybe! I just feel bad for SSC ya know? Lots of hardworking people there who are 'suffering' as a result of the higher ups there that want to constantly take the easy road with these reissues. People that make the decisions at SSC frustrate me, though

I would feel bad for them, but the only way they'll know how customers feel is if we voice our opinion and follow through with with our wallets. It's not like I'm gonna call CS and chew them out over this, but I think the decision to do a re-release like this is shady and I can't respect a company that would engage in such an obvious cash grab.

The Probe Droid is the worst as it offers nothing new, but Vader and Fett are not much better and I have a feeling they are just the beginning.

I'm okay with the Probe Droid being reissued as is as it was a good figure to begin with. The only downside is that they aren't including the snow base which isn't a huge deal but would be nice to have.

If I buy a 1/6 Vader, it'll probably be this one. It looks better than HT to my eyes.

It's hard to be sympathetic when there are smaller companies making better quality figures for less. Yes they may not be licensed, but they are better quality than SSC. I have no problem with re-issues if they correct glaring problems from previous releases. A few changes while dropping all of the accessories of the previous release that made it all the more desired for only a few bucks less???

What makes that appealing in any way??

Showing great quality prototypes only to fall short in production??

Make no mistake that Sideshow Collectibles is a business. And when we their customers voice our dismay over their products, it's not out of spite, it more out of disappointment or dare I say a feeling of betrayal that they don't deliver.

This Hobby has become far too expensive for Blind Loyalty to A Company that doesn't deliver.:monkey2

Wait so you going to call and chew out someone who has nothing to do with this? :dunno

Wow it really is a bee in your bonnet. Like someone else mentioned call them and let them know and post their response, I'm curious what it'll be.

Im psyched they re-released the Probe Droid. It was wayyyyy to expensive on secondary market and I wasn't able to get it when it was first released. the first one is almost like an EX now since it has the different base. So i don't understand the complaints. You guys complain about everything:lol

It's cool that a segment of collectors is going to have access to the Probot, now, b/c it's IMO SSC's best ever piece and deserves a large audience, but galacti's criticism is still valid. Re-releases like this, Vader and Boba are a complete reversal of SSC's stated policy never to re-release and their history. I've been collecting 4 years or so and have never seen SSC or HT do this, so it's natural for it to be questioned.

It's not complaining about everything. Many of us have been buying SSC Star Wars 1/6 figures since the beginning. SSC use to not be like this. There were figures that we wanted to see that were never made....Tarkin, Count Dooku, etc. Now it is just re-release and cash grab.

I misread it. I think sending an email to voice displeasure makes sense but calling seemed over the top and was actually kind of shocked he was going to.

I think all of us are too lazy to call even if we find it annoying. :lol I know I could never be bothered to do so, that's for sure.

I was more referring to him constantly posting about it but I would be curious to know what SS would say.

then just don't buy it. If they make 1/6 DC figures, I dont buy them. Doesn't effect me in any way. For those who missed out on some of their best 1/6 like the Probe Droid, Im psyched!!!!! Its not like they are re-releasing their first Princess Leia from way back exactly the same. The Probe Droid is an awesome piece and a lot of people are paying way too much for it on eBay because of flippers. This way SSC gets paid and I rather they make money than a flipper. With Vader, its ROTJ version. Vader is one of the most highly collected characters of any movie. Their version wont be out until middle of 2016 at the earliest when most likely the Hot Toys version will be sold out. So this will be the only 1/6 Vader available to buy. There are new collectors popping up every day. People discover HTs and SSC every single day and never saw old versions. So this Vader will be available to them when others were not. If your a new collector wanting to get into it, and you want a Vader its better to have the choice to buy something new at a cheaper price, than having to pay more for a sold out figure on eBay. Thats how this works. Older collectors need to let new collectors enjoy the hobby too. Just because you bought figures starting in 2002 doesn't give you privileges to a new collector starting their collection in 2016.

But whatever, i don't believe in cash grabs because I buy what I want. They don't force anyone to buy anything. If you dont want it, dont buy it.

I don't imagine they'd feel any need to justify to the likes of us and a front line rep probably isn't privy to the change in policy, anyway.

Eh, you're not really grasping the issue, so no need to try and shut down conversation with the ol' 'don't like don't buy' chestnut.

Actually yes it does. This goes for anything that has value and it is silly to post that everything that is sold she be able to be reproduced, repurchased and made available to everyone at any time. If anything collectible was always reissued and rehashed there would be an absurd less amount of things collected. Rarity or limited edition is a marketing tool and it makes selling goods very attractive. Yes some people are going to go all chest pounding and say I collect to collect and to value these things is stupid but I think that is a stupid view to feel that way. I don't piss away money on things and if I collect something I want it to have value, that's for me others will disagree.

This re-issue is going to be a touchy issue for everyone. If you don't have a probe droid then you are stoked woo-hoo since you don't have to pay out the *** for it. If you are an older collector and already shelled out for the probe droid then there is going to be a different opinion. Collectors that have been doing this for years have been in the mindset and trained that once a item sells out its done. So they have planned their budgets and efforts to get specific pieces that were a threat to sell out. Now Sideshow is changing the rules and are re-issuing figures. This is a sore spot for many because of the way they had to purchase based on speculation of missing out.

It also depends on how many figures you are buying as well. People with smaller collections that do not buy as many has less impact on them as those that buy more figures for budgeting what to buy. Prioritizing figures is a hell of a lot easier when you by 2-3 a year vs 10-15 (just sampling two ends of the spectrum for example). So the frame of mind on what to buy and when can be a challenge depending on how many pieces a person buys and having to deal with sellouts is/was/still is? as a big thing to take into consideration.

No mater the case, it does give the perception of Sideshow appearing what some may call desperate to re-issue like this. They have milked the clones for the last 3 years with easy paint-ups and using the same tooling and any new figures have been crap for human sculpts as of late. Hot toys has impacted their production business in ways we cannot imagine and so has Disney's new agreement as I am sure their new structure is much more costly. Whatever the case if this is the norm going forward then many buyers new and old will change in the habits they are purchasing from Sideshow with less chances of figures actually selling out and not being available again. The pre-order account will take a substantial hit and that will give them less operating capital between proto to release so they do need to be smart with how they are offering figures to ensure that is not adversely impacted.

I'm guessing many who are disappointed paid retail for the droid the first time so I don't see the complaint there(I give reprieve to those that paid aftermarket). The only thing lost is aftermarket value and potential for flipping, which isn't a big sacrifice considering the many others that can have one now at retail. And I'm guessing the potential to entice new collectors with chances to buy previously sold out items may outweigh losing out on resellers/exclusive collectors. Business models are organic, they evolve based on current market trends this may be the better current business model.

Personally, I can see both sides of the argument.

On the one hand, this is great for new collectors and those that missed out. On the other hand I know a lot of collectors who need the security of resale value as they tend to sell old figures to fund new ones and the escalating secondary market is the only way those old figures keep pace (value wise) with new figures.

I'm not surprised to see Sideshow do this to be honest. It seems to me that sixth scale figures have been "open edition" for quite a few years now with some coming in and out of stock or preorder status multiple times. Even in the PF space where items are still numbered they have re-released. They slapped on a new paint job to Poison Ivy and Deadpool and released. I haven't looked closely but modern Batman seems and awful look like the original PF. And they are still pumping out Stormtrooper PF's.

This doesn't hit me hard as I rarely sell, but I can understand those that like the security of resale value being unhappy with these moves. There will always be those that will want those earlier editions as they came with more or better parts. It'll just be harder to find those buyers.
