Imagine how you would feel if you were him, giving out free autographs and then seeing it sold on ebay for hundreds.

?!?!?!?

He charges $50 for his signature. I don't understand your post. I really don't think Stan cares what we do with the things he signs. He does it for his fans. It's not like he makes a living off of his sigs and is bitter if anyone sells them. What he has made off just the Marvel movies that were released over the last few years has put Stan in a great financial situation. He's 90 years old with a boat load of money. As a fan, I'm just thankful he takes the time to go to Cons and other venues at his age to give us a chance to meet him and sign some items we have in our collection. I think that is beyond cool. I don't think Stan gives a second thought to the items he signs. I have to believe that kind of thinking is beneath him.

Be nice if I can get his sig but I doubt it. My last time and first NYCC that I went to, he was there but I missed him.

That's the only thing I'm worried about. He's going to be at WW Chicago between the dates of Aug 9th-12th. I want to get the 4 day package with Stan Lee pass. However, it costs over $200. My problem is I will not come back home from my overseas vacation until the evening of the 9th. I have a wedding I can't miss the next day. So, I have to attend the Con over the weekend. I'm not sure when he'll be signing on Sat or Sun and if my pass for Stan is good for the entire Con or just one day. If I drop over $200 on the Stan Lee express pass, I hope it's good for the entire Con. I would probably go on Sat & Sun to get Stan's sig on a few of my favorite statues.

If anyone has already attended a WW Con and purchased the Stan Lee tickets, please let me know how the process works. Any info would be great.

Seriously?? You don't think he cares that someone is going to get his signature on something just to turn around and flip it?? At least this way he controls how much Stan Lee autographed merchandise is out there. A fan will pay it, a flipper might think twice about putting out money on an item they may not get a good return on. He knows more than anyone what his name is worth and how easily it can be exploited.
With great signatures comes great responsibility.

I have to disagree. If he wanted to control the market he'd charge $200 per sig. This way there would be way fewer peeps asking for sigs and a lot less in the aftetmarket. High demand, low supply....valuable sig. His signature is not that rare. It certainly adds value....I've seen his sig on statue fetch roughly $100 more on average....hardly big bucks when his sig cost you $50 to begin with. His sig is more nostalgia than profit for most of us. The time standing in line, the money spent on sigs is mainly for fun, not profit. I'm not going to go through all that just to make a few bucks.

I firmly believe what I said earlier. A 90 year old multi millionaire has better things to do than worry about how some stranger will profit from his signature.

I'm not saying he wants to control the market. I'm saying he is adding some hassle to make it harder for people to take advantage of his fans. Its not like he needs the money.

I think you're reading way too much between the lines. :dunno

I certainly agree with you that he doesn't need the money. Even flippers will have to go through some hassles to get his sig. They'll wait in line, pay entrance/signing fees, and have to haul their goods just like you and me. That's a lot of work for very little profit as far as flippers go.

So long as Stan makes himself accessible and charges a reasonable rate for his sig...his fans will be alright. I'm really hoping that I get the chance to meet him at the WW Con. He is an Icon in the industry and it would be a blast to have some of my favorite statues of characters he created signed by THE man himself. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Because I have never been a fan of him personally, I think it would be about time for me to meet him, so that I could form a fair opinion.

Oh for sure. I think this was my one and only chance. It just wasn't in my heart this year like it has been in previous years.

Fremen, I was able to make it to Calgary and attended both Saturday and Sunday event without facing too much of a problem with the line up. I finally understand what you mean about the line up. That was insane and if I ever do it again, I definitely will get the VIP pass.

I think the VIP pass was $295

Screw that. :lol
I think of a whole lot of other stuff I'd rather spend that on.
Thanks for the answer though! :duff

295 is a lot of money, but the guest would have to be worth it before I drop that much moolaw on a VIP ticket. Just gotta make sure you get up bright an early and hit up the line before it get crazy.

Exactly! But the problem with that was the VIP tix were already sold-out before they even revealed who the guests were.

Any suggestions as to how soon I should get in line to meet Stan? I'm going to the Chicago Comic-con this friday, saturday, and sunday. I plan on getting his auto and photo op out of the way on friday. I have the speed pass to both, but I have no idea how far ahead I should get in line for those (1 hour or 2 or more???). Any help would be appreciated.

I did the whole picture/auto/meet Stan at an expo in Albuquerque this summer. The line for Stan was huge considering there wasn't a huge amount of people at the expo. But with a speed pass I wouldn't worry about getting in line more than an hour before.

Thanks for letting me know. Its hard trying to plan my day/weekend around Stan. I've been to a couple of conventions but have never been to one with someone this iconic before.
