T1er using a classic T2 image to usher members into his club?

yes I'm fully aware of what I'm setting myself up for

You know going all the way back to that first trailer I have to wonder just what the hell was wrong with this format? It gave nothing away other than Sarah waiting for Reese which probably would have had us thinking that THAT was the big twist, no monkey smile, it seems like a pretty damn decent trailer all of a sudden. :lol

Empire Strikes Back is blue. Aliens is blue. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is blue. Robocop 2 is literally blue. Batman Returns is blue. The Dark Knight is blue.

What is it with sequels using that dark cinematography, cool filter and blue theme? Am I supposed to feel cold, because I do.

I always thought it was weird how the color theme for Two Towers was red and Returns of the King was blue. Always felt like it should be reversed in my opinion for that exact same reason. :lol

They got Fellowship right.

I would say T2 is darker than T1 in terms of theme and how foreshadowing it is, and it's really no more of an action blockbuster than T1.

This exchange here is way more frightening to me than anything on T1.

This part specifically freaks me the **** out.

Not to mention those ****ing nuclear nightmares with parents and children getting wiped out and realistic depictions of buildings and cars being leveled.

Say what you will about tone, but Kyle Reese's dreams had nothing on the stuff going on in Sarah's mind. Reese got his truck flipped and burned to death, Sarah got her skin blown off after witnessing people blow apart into ashes. No Terminator movie to date has been that graphic.

I'd never really noticed that before... That's interesting.

T2 had the one disturbing nuke scene but T1 was pretty much a slasher horror movie with guns from beginning to end. No pauses with kids goofing off with Terminators in parking lots or big high fiving pit stops. No handshakes or "hope" at the end.

I love that scene, man Stan was a ****ing genius, rest in pepperoni maestro.

I think, if I ever get to see a real nuke, I'm going to be disappointed, that scene has always been the ultimate nuke for me, scary.

Okay I just caught the last minute of BTTF II and it got me wondering just where Genisys will go with Parts 2 and 3. What if they DO go off to the Old West or Medieval Times in the next movies? :lol :rotfl

Things can get worse John. A lot worse...

Terminators in the Old West? That's perhaps the most brilliant thing ever. Just the change of scenery would make things interesting, plus a Terminator dressed like a cowboy could be the coolest thing ever. Especially a battle damaged Terminator in that outfit.

Precisely, slasher and jumpscares < psychological horror.

When a machine you just hi-5'd at a pit stop tells you your species is ****ed up, well :lol that ****'s haunting.

But even those kids goofing off had a foreboding nature when John looks at them, sees them fighting and says "we're not going to make it, are we".

Yeah there's more levity in T2, instead of "watch em' for me big buns" or "I'm gonna rip the buttons of your blouse one by one" we get a vertical pan shot of the Terminator with Bad to the Bone or John teaching the T-800 "dickwad" and "hasta la vista". I still don't think it ever abandons or is unfaithful to the first though. The Terminator retains this stoic attitude, Sarah never cracks a grin and is actually quite edgy throughout, so it makes sense that there would be some liveliness with a 10 year old wise ass kid. The first film couldn't have had that element because of the story it was telling. It was different. The humor mostly came from side characters like Ginger, Matt, Traxler, Vukovichi and Silberman.

Neither of them contained moments or dialogue that made me cringe like the non-Cameron sequels. Maybe a few ditzy Sarah bits from T1 and "I need a vacation" from T2, but nothing horrible. They both had the right tone which is why I think most people like them.

It's the only way to go!

Medieval T-800, Western T-800, Pirate T-800, the roaring 20s T-800. These things practically write themselves.

"I need a vacation" .

Even that I still don't have a problem with :lol

So what if you don't actually see him learning that - it can be assumed it happened off screen. He just realised it might be an opportunity to say something John might appreciate at that particular moment.

Terminator Salvation had less humor than T2, and it still sucked, so what difference does it make?

That humor =/= a bad movie. It depends on how and when it is implemented.

Unless it's a Marvel Studios movie that isn't Iron Man or Cap II: Winter Soldier. Then it is bad. Doubly so if it is written/directed by Joss the boss Whendon.
