Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Still, I think the Black Widow and her scenes were the best surprise of the film. Didn't she have some cell phone nudes leaked? Off for a look...

BB

..and yes she did Buzzybean. Two. :yess:

Not nearly enough.

Saw the earliest show this morning with my twin brother and it was sold out.
Great movie, don't know why there's so much hate for it.

Eh? While I'm expecting to see a backlash I haven't seen any yet.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Yeah, I'm seeing quite the opposite of "so much hate." People are really enjoying this movie and going back to see it again.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

It never gets said.

Its more implied just before the opening Avengers logo.

If memory serves either Coulson or Robyn from HIMYM says something like 'what will we do?', camera closes in on Sam Jackson's face and then movie logo Avengers Assemble.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Saw this in 3D at the late showing last night. Hulk/Banner stole the show for me--smashing Loki to a pulp after Loki tirade, slapping Thor :rotfl. Will def. be seeing this again. The teenage crowd were quite boisterous in their 'Avengers Assemble' shout at the beginning, and more than a few people applauded the movie at the conclusion.

A must see for any Marvel fan.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Going to see it in just a bit with the folks. Gonna be a blast.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Only downside to this is all the little poseurs who just discovered the Hulk as a cool character and are now super fans of the Green King.I hate them.

Yeah, it sucks when a cool character gets cool exposure and becomes more popular as a result. . .

Right on, Josh! :duff :rock

Or it could have been a Batman fan. :monkey3 :nana:

Yeah, I'm pretty lucky my folks are into this stuff and want to see these films or go to comic-con.

Very possible with how crazy they can get. Drives me nuts.

Maybe, that's only over here though. The guys in the US will get 'Marvels The Avengers' logo.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Saw it. Loved it. The perfect Superhero film IMHO, a grand mix of action and storytelling that doesn't take itself so seriously that it forgets what genre it is.

Whedon did a phenomenal job connecting the group and giving everyone equal time to introduce themselves to the audience including a smart plot device with Hawkeye. Everyone did perfectly in their roles, Ruffalo is easily my favorite Banner/Hulk combination and what was great to see was everyone allowing each other to take light. Tom Hiddleston was the perfect villain and stole every scene he was in.

Whedon does what he usually does with his female protagonists and gives Black Widow and even Maria Hill a great foothold into the action and while ScarJo was just eye candy in IM2 I really liked her character in this.

Downey's conversations and quips with everyone was fantastic and the Mark VII was awesome especially the suiting up scene.

I can't wait for another Avengers film and have a feeling I'll be seeing this a few more times in the theaters without much arm twisting.

Say what you want about Nolan's films and their "serious realism" or the past Marvel films, this one for me topped all of them.

Also for those who didn't know how Thor got there you weren't paying attention:

Loki tells Thor in a mocking tone "how much dark matter did your father have to conjure up in order to get you here" which was a nice link as Dr. Selvig was research the Tesseract in SHIELD's Dark Matter research facility. Odin sent him to get Loki and use the Tesseract to bring him back which is why they used it in the end as well. Loved it. Bring on Thanos

So much of the film was so verbal (another Whedon trait) that even my wife and brother missed some of the great dialogue. Definitely deserving of a repeat viewing just to catch all the little things missed.

Did anyone notice

That Thanos' hand was a human looking hand and not the large purple hand he usually has or even purple?

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Glad you enjoyed it mike and I agree with you that it all came together. I think in the end this being a group film set up well for Whedon as that I think is his strong suit with his TV background.

No, but I'll keep an eye out for that here in a bit.
