Yes. if you want a 2D showing, wait for the Blu Ray, get an HDTV, and put on the smooth motion setting. There you go. Looks exactly like that.

Motion smoothing is big kahkah. I know people who love it and turn their tvs to high. Its unnatural. I don't understand why every department store puts the motion smooth on for display models. Who wants their tvs to do that :dunno

And I never watch 3D in theaters, so I don't have to deal with this new form of cinematic kahkah :yess:

^ Correct choice.

This movie is worth viewing it the way humanity intended it to be. Twenty Frames per glorious second! :D

That's where I Was going with the questions about 48 in 2D or 3D, if the 48 fps is only done to help the 3D then I think we are okay for at least a decade or more. 3D is not that big and movie theaters only show a couple of 3D shows a day, I think the 48 fps will not be a real problem for at least a few decades, at least until every single movie theater changes to 3D for all showings of all movies.

Hmm... I feel like I should've taken the time to get some more info about HFR before buying 2 tickets to see The Hobbit in HFR 3D tonight.

After reading all this, I have a feeling I'm not going to like it.

I see it sometimes on certain LED televisions that don't seem calibrated too well. Characters in a movie seem to move to fast and it all looks like a documentary. I don't like that.

I hope I'll still enjoy the film tonight though...

I'm gonna have to see this for myself. I can't see it from the trailers.

You really should have, it's likely to give you diarrhea and make you sterile.

Oh dear... I'd better wear a diaper then.

Yeah, that's my line of thought now as well. Tickets are bought and paid for, might as well go and see it in HFR and enjoy myself. Perhaps I even like it. Can't know if I haven't experienced it.

Don't know the technicalities behind the HFR jazz and how it will affect the future of cinema. However, as a regular viewer, I wouldn't like to watch a movie like Hobbit in this format. The night is not dark enough and 'grainy', and day is too bright, as if the Sun has moved in place of Venus :google
