Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Josh, since you have all those editions, are all the extras from them on the bluray EEs?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, same extras from the DVD sets are on the blu's.

Even from all those different editions and single copies? I was always wondering about that since alot of times they when they re-release a DVD or Blu they add something to it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Like we all didn't know that already. :lol

Any guesses on when a new trailer will pop up? It's gotta be close. What's WB's next big release? More than likely attached to that.

Good. Wasn't trying to hide it. :yess:

It's supposed to be in September sometime from all the info I've seen.

the only new thing is a new documentary that has been released with both versions of the EE on blu.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

LOTR > Breaking Bad IMO

The old EE set didn't have a green tint and this one doesn't either.

Taken yesterday while watching fotr

So what's with all the images online and solutions how to fix it with the TV settings? Are some discs green and others not? Some scenes green and others not? I love LotR and want to spend alot of money to upgrade but I want the best product possible. That's all.

And I won't compare LotR to Breaking Bad. I own LotR already, I didn't own Breaking Bad. I picked up "Hugo" and "Super 8" while there too all for the price of LotR! Great prices! Enter than Target and Wal-Mart's!

I don't know. I've never noticed it and not made any changes to my TV so I think its peoples TV or people playing with it to give them something to ***** about.

Its cool. I was just stating if I had my choice is all.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The only thing I don't like about the EE blu's is that they didn't upgrade the appendices to hd too. For the money they are charging for the set it would have been nice.

Yeah, I'd say thats the one negative thing about them. Those appendices are amazing work and a great look into what went on to make IMO the best Trilogy of all-time.

Yeah, I just watched the standard theatrical dvd last week and a recently bought EE Blu Ray copy yesterday. There was no visible "green tint" or whatever. It was the same film I've always seen, except it had some extra content and was in high definition. :D

Actually, even then I am glad to have them. I can't really say anything negative about these Extended Edition Blu Rays. Well, if I just had to grasp at straws here, then I would say having each film split onto two discs is a bit tedious, but I don't mind it that much, to be honest. In fact, it gives one a break to go grab some refreshments and a snack, if need be. :D

About to watch Two Towers EE, woot.

Yeah, these really pop in HD.

It would have been nice to have them all on one disc but I'm so use to switching at this point its not a big deal. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

It woul have been cool if FOTR and TTT extended editions were as well done as ROTK.

The Lonely Mountain is a better title. The one they're using gives too much away (compared to the other two), and as has been pointed out, it reads funny.

I'm annoyed it's going to be a trilogy. Not deterred, but still, annoyed.

Great call on the title for the second film. I agree that "The Lonely Mountain" would have been a better name than "The Desolation of Smaug".

However...I have to respectfully disagree...in the extreme...with the preference for the number of movies. The more, the better, in my opinion.

And I believe that however it is handled, PJ has shown that he will show the material enough respect that it will not embarrass the book.

Also, that gives us more opportunity to get figures from (hopefully)
Sideshow or (less preferably, but acceptably) Hot Toys.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Just out of curiousity, any idea for the reason behind the division?

I was under the impression all films and PS3 games tried to opt for the 50gb dual layered discs? Surely one half of each of the high def versions of these films doesn't hog that much data? o_O

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I think it was just to make sure we got the best quality on each disc. I've never seen an actual reason.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I guess they do utilize that much space then. Wow. Well, it had to happen eventually, Blu Ray films exceeding capacity. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but on the FB page they put up the different covers to the tie-in books coming out.

I just pre-orderd the Art & Design book.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, we had something on TORn the other day. I've got all of them on order as of right now.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Movie Tie-in

Cool. I have a feeling I'll end up with all the tie-in books too. I have all the LOTR ones.

I went back over the last year or so and picked up the LOTR ones I didn't have. Pretty sure I have all of them now. Great books to have for reference.
