Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I went back over the last year or so and picked up the LOTR ones I didn't have. Pretty sure I have all of them now. Great books to have for reference.

Even though the guides and "making of" books are nice, I love the "art of" books. Those are beautiful.

I wonder how An Unexpected Journey Hobbit Art and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: Chronicles: Art & Design differ.

Those art books are among my favorite art books. So much great material within them.

I don't know. I would imagine they'll be similar. They were worked on by Weta themselves so they should be good. One of the authors Daniel Falconer is a big lotr guy. He's a great person to talk with ad I've gotten to have the chance to do at sdcc the last couple of years.

I'm sure I'll end up with both. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Great call on the title for the second film. I agree that "The Lonely Mountain" would have been a better name than "The Desolation of Smaug".

However...I have to respectfully disagree...in the extreme...with the preference for the number of movies. The more, the better, in my opinion.

I was discussing it with my best friend, and he had no sympathy either. :lol

Besides the Art books do not forget to get the Weapons and Warfare book as well as the Visual Companion Book....Highly recommended...some nice shots of I believe footage shot that was not in the films

Hmmm... Now I really want the LotR EE Blurays. I will wait for my birthday in the summer or perhaps Christmas next year. I have way too many other things I don't own on any format this year for Christmas on my list this year.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'm finishing up the EE today with ROTK.

Funny how Boromir has become my favorite character after watching the EE's, when I specifically remember disliking him back in the day when I read the books. I'm loving the way his character is handled in the EE versions. He embodies man almost to a tee.

Boromir is a fantastic character. I think his fall is sad as it shows even with good intentions we can make horrible mistakes.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Damn when did this turn into a lotr thread.

Edit

Lol wow I thought I was in the rip micheal Clarke Duncan thread lol. So stupid of me. Sorry.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Lol of course they do. Btw shouldn't we be getting a damn longer trailer soon ?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I see some bandwagon jumpers have arrived.

 How can there be bandwagon jumpers to a movie that's not even out yet?

Chiming in, I've always loved Boromir! I love the EEs so much for his added scenes. Not just his in particular, but they're among the best stuff to flesh out his character and make you feel for the guy and make you understand Faromir's motivations a bit more.
