So, has anyone on here ever done a Color Run? I just signed up for one and it will probably kill me but it looks fun as hell, and a can't miss opportunity.

Good thread, I've been skimming it and have found it pretty motivating.

I just turned 40 recently and while I'm not in bad shape, I ain't in the shape I was when I got married 10 years ago. I decided recently that I'm gonna make a serious commitment to eating better and training again. I still work out a bit (curls, push-ups, sit-ups etc...) just to maintain and keep myself from getting fat but I want to start actually lifting again.

Basically I was pretty chunky and out of shape until the end of my sophomore year of HS when I started hitting the weights and got into really good shape. It took me years of work and mixing and matching different supplements (Aminos, creatine, Hot Stuff, various protein powders, weight gain shakes etc...) to really bulk up to where I wanted to be. I hit my peak in the mid 90's at 5'-11", 220 lbs and 7% body fat. I was lifting 6 days a week, running 3 times a week (about 15 - 20 miles total), and mixed in a little MMA training for about a year with a buddy who used to compete. I pretty much maintained my fitness routine until I got married in 2002. Then it became more or less working out in the garage a few nights a week and running every so often. In 2005 my son was born and since then it has become doing 100+ push-ups and sit-ups alternating every morning when I wake up (but I have at least stuck to that religously).

We're moving in a couple months and I plan on getting a gym membership again and I will be near the trails that I used to run on along the Chicago River. I plan on taking up biking for cardio since my shins don't deal with running very well any more. For the meantime I have started eating better.

Anyway, that's my story - sorry for the lengthy novel.:lol I am excited to get in better shape again and will post my progress.

Been a month I've gotten back into lifting after a 5 year hiatus. Already lost 2.5 inches on my waist. Strength is jumping back up fairly quickly too. Hopping to be back over 400 on the bench and 600 on deadlifts in a few months. Lots of proteins and nuts in my diet right now.

Welcome Naz, good support hear.

Thanks. It's not gonna be that hard getting back into the swing of real workouts again, all the raw materials are still there at least. Basically upper body, arms and legs - I just need to tone up a bit. The real work is gonna be my mid-section and all the crunches and sit-ups in the world ain't gonna make a difference unless I improve my eating habits (which I'm already working on). I'm also going to have to spend a little less time with my good friend Beer.:lol

I switched up my muscle mix today, did chest and back together, thought it would be tough but i was just as strong if not stronger than when I did chest/bi's and back/tri's

Anyone else do c/b together?

You should keep muscles that work together on the same day. You work your biceps when you train back and your triceps when you train chest. It makes more sense to group those together to maximize recovery.

The recommendation I heard was one day biceps, triceps, forearms, stomach, and the next day, chest, legs, neck, stomach.

How about a 3 day split:

Day 1: Back, Biceps, Forearms, Abs

Day 2: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Abs

Day 3: Quads, Hamstrings, Calves, Abs

Your neck will strengthen on it's own if you do any kind of lifting like squats, deadlifts, rows and presses etc...

All I heard was blah, blah, blah. I have never heard or read of anyone saying meal timing/frequency does not work. Only it does not matter. There are alot of BB'rs eating IF and IIFYM that are huge/cut(with or without juice).
Question? What happens when you sleep and don't eat for 9-12 hrs? Oh, no you go CAT and loose muscle. Nope!

It's the same type of stuff when people argue over how one works out. Heavy Duty vs. High Reps-there are great BBrs on both sides.
Same thing over and over again-2,4,6 hrs eating sch or IF it does not matter as long as you are getting your macros. If it keeps you going and dedicated then do it. In the end-get your macros and lift.

I forgot to add back to the list. I think it was a first day exercise. I was taught it in High School .

I'm not sure about the neck strengthening the best from squats dead lifts, or such. I know I always got the best neck strength results from the neck machine.

To be fair when you sleep your processes are slowed down considerably. The fact that you did fast for 8 hours is why Breakfast is so important though. I knew of a coach that waked up his athletes during the middle of the night to get them to have a protein shake and go back to bed.

Also eating more frequently > sparse meals.

After watching a few of this guy's videos..Is it just me or does this guy not know how to workout properly? Bad form on his exercises..He's blowing through his reps like he's in a speed contest, no matter how many times his friend tells him to do the negatives, he doesn't listen...I'm like :slap
