Ugh....I would never want a kid of mine to go to college these days. Go to tech school or something!

If my eventual kid goes, I'm going to be hard on them to do well since the only way they're going is with a scholarship, and it's a worthwhile field.

The false narrative that college is the most important thing in the world is ridiculous.

Most degrees are worthless, especially the curriculum that most colleges offer.

Too many are going to college without any real set of plans or looking for high paying careers where they do nothing. Not many of those kinds of jobs around. You need to study for something where you can actually get a job.

Everything is racist. This forum went from green, to white. Dave is a racist, clearly.

Nothing's free, I'm sick of paying for everyone else to get ahead. People need to pay their own way

The entitlement class does better than people working 40+ hours a week.

About paying for everyone else, this is pretty serious: I remember when I was paying to keep SSF running when I was a Premium Member, while the plebs were running around, and flaunting their free accounts and gif less avatars. And I'm sooooo happy that newb crows got a full bar of reps while paying NOTHING to Dave, but this isn't about crows. This isn't about you, crows. Who the heck does crows think he is? Well, I'm a pleb now, too, but dammit, I need that money to buy food. Which reminds me, can anyone spot me a 20? Help a brother out, crows.

As a premium member, I'm offended that I still have to see plebeian posts.

Can't there be a section just for the poor, downtrodden peasants that aren't premium members? Maybe we could give them the Marvel section--they won't bother anyone in there.

I'm done with premium. No one buys anything. Mods ignore infractible posts by their buddies. Dave ignores legitimate grievances. It's not the cost, there's no value in it.

Trades are for the unlazy respectable crowd. People who seek trades know what they want out of life, make good money, and are the backbone of society. Without trades there wouldnt be colleges around for lazy, self entitled, debt collecting, garbage personality, man and women babies to squander their lives in. Only a small percentage of intelligent people who make the correct moves use college to their advantage and get a proper career from it. Buck the **** up and get your hands dirty and stop being such ******* gambling on easy street. I swear most people dont even have callouses on their hands anymore.

bricks, mortar and hammers ain't cheap, bub.

I paid a white dude to design my landscaping and plant the flowers and trees. He sent out Mexicans to do the work.

And that's why there's no internships. Why bother when you can get all these illegals and migrant workers to do it on the cheap?

It's not the college that is to blame.....it's the inflated and ridicules prices of tuition.....

But every college NEEDS to have marble floors and HUGE sports teams, and luxury dorms ......this is how they attract the high end students .

If college was still like it was in the 80's ., crappy dorms , cheap food and cheaper used books.....the tuition would have no reason to be so high.

Ive always wished that high school didnt end at 12 grade but instead went up two more years (optional) teaching you real job skills and that kids could get a simple degree or something like that.
Colleges are becoming ridiculous. They are becoming hobby centers.

Title IX killed sports profitability. At the Div 1 level the football and basketball teams pay for the entire athletic department.

There are way, way too many majors to choose from at college. Colleges should start being used as trade schools with books and preparing kids to work in the real world, not designing spaghetti paintings while questioning the 757 genders

College has always been a place to engage in intellectual exploration. Thats why they let you make your own choices- like classes and a major. And in that exploration you can decide for yourself what you like and dont like. It's still very much about the pursuit of knowledge. The subject of that knowledge is a different subject.

It's not meant to be a place to learn about hvac repair or operating a crane. Thats why those choices are not available in traditional colleges, but they are offered elsewhere. Conversely, you wont study Descartes or the cold war in trade school.

But i could see some colleges offering tech classes in the name of the pursuing knowledge. Again, it's a choice.

I always thought auto repair and tax law would be enormously practical college courses.

A rudimentary course in the constitution should be taught at the hs level. I dont think they teach civics anymore.

So like a hobby for rich people to discover themselves.
Why on earth should that ever be free :lol :lol

College is a place for you to get a degree, which will hopefully, make you more employable in your future. Trade schools are generally marketed as a cheap option to people in the workforce who're looking for changes in their careers. It's also marketed to high school kids, and college dropouts who never managed well academically.

And how much more money one needed to pay for it. Went to the first class, got the supply list, added up the costs, then dropped the class.
