pix, this is really weird, but you and I wear the same shoes.

You would lose that bet. No steel toe. No chance of anything heavy falling on my toes in my line of work. They do have Tactical boots with a Composite Toe to keep them light. And I've own a pair before, but nothing as comfortable as my Rocky's.

i was once denied pub entry because of my steel capped boots. this was in wellington, windy city with windy people. i was wearing my 8 eye steel-toe doc martens. they're not my dancing shoes, but i do consider them as my secondary self defense accessory.

No, I'm an aide that works with preschool and kindergarten kids. I would never want to be a teacher these days.

School starts Thursday but we have in-service and facility meetings tomorrow and Tuesday.

I agree. I quit teaching a long time ago. As bad as it sounds, the few kids I was able to reach didn't make the aggravation with the other kids and their parents worth it. Teachers are, in general, babysitters now and my patience is not what it once was. Throw in the horrible pay with everything else and I decided I needed to get out. My wife teaches art so the kids are usually more interested in what she's doing than a subject like English, History or Math, but she still has problem kids and school politics to deal with.

'Art' wasn't really taken seriously as a subject when I was in school. If you did well in the entrance exams for the school you weren't allowed to do art, only the weaker students and the messers could. And it remained a 'messers' class when I was eventually allowed to take it up in my last 2 years.

Hmmm, yep, my body has decided to resume normal operations and I've gained weight (not the good kind). I had a bit of a happy hiatus there where no matter how much I ate and drank I was stable at 11 stone. Alas 12 now. As a single man I can't be letting this happen....
