Re: Tobey Maguire VS Andrew Garfield

Andrew. He reminds me of the comic book Spiderman more than Tobey - it's probably partly because of the script, but damn, he did a good job.

Re: Tobey Maguire VS Andrew Garfield

Would like to see fresh reactions. Still undecided myself, i like them both but ASM2 will most likely be the deciding factor.

Same. I need to see another film with Garfield before I'd vote. Tobey wins at the moment based on the movies we have so far.

its pretty clear who's the winner here.....

who ever is doing...

WINS.

Tobey all the way. Garfield had his moments but overall hes kind of awkward

Peter Parker, awkward? No way!

:exactly:

Plus, he's a gymnast in real life, a definite plus if you're playing Spiderman.

I know Spiderman and Spiderman 2 were good and great movies, respectively, but ASM definitely brings the wise-***, and that's 90% of what Spiderman's about, to me.

If I cared about the poll it'd be Maguire cuz Raimi's movies were awesome and Toby was perfect for 'em.

Webb's movie was a disaster and Garfield looked / played a modern ******.

On a side note none of the adaptations conveyed the spirit of my beloved '90s SM.

Garfield was serviceable. I actually quite liked his performance, but he hasn't done anything that really cemented his role as Spidey for me. I prefer Maguire at this point.

I'm looking forward to ASM2, and if Garfield manages to sway my POV then good job on him.

I agree Garfield was serviceable. And I agree with whoever said he seemed more like a jerk than just funny. But overall he was ok within the world they created for the ASM movie. One thing that really bothered me was that Garfield acted like he had some kind of behavioral disorder like Asperger's or Autistism or something. Seriously.

And overall I thought Tobey did a fantastic job--from a truly believable loser/nerd, to the wisecracking friendly neighborhood Spidey.

Garfield I thought was too "cool" and good looking like an outsider/artist/misunderstood bad boy type, instead of just a plain old nerd like what PP is supposed to be.

I really liked Tobey's first take on the character, he did a great job as the shy, awkward high school kid.
Unfortunately, the sequels, especially the third movie, really hurt my perception of his Peter Parker.
I think Garfield's doing a great job, so for now my vote goes to him. We'll see how he does in the next movie.
