Anakin Would NOT have gone along with that. Darth Vader MIGHT have, most likely he would have, BUT, anakin was not yet Darth Vader. Remeber what Anakin says after Palpatine Kills mace.
"Oh no, what have I done?!" And he's allmost in tears. He KNOWS he just made a mistake, but thinks that now it's too late. this is further perpetuated by Palpatine telling him " the jedi will soon move to kill both of us" or someting to that effect.
IF Anakin had walked in and seen Sidious in his full sith Glory, Lording over a fallen, beaten, and early dead mace, he would have at once been the hero he so badly wanted to be. He ALLMOST Cut down Palpatine when Palpatine reveals himself to him, but instead decides to take the moral high road, and get the other jedi. Palpatine RELIED on their friendship to keep anakin from killing him then, and he Relied on that friendship to help him when he put himself at Mace's mercy.
In a duel to the death, the person who dies is generaly considered the loser mate. Mace LOST. And he Lost becuase Palpatine cheated by manipulating the fight to his advantge even before the fight began. He knew the jedi were comming, and he was ready for them. He kills thre of them INSTANTLY at the start, and lets the fight with mace draw out till he's ready.
He could of Killed Mace at any time with but a thought, If you Read the novels, you know he's done it before, And could have killed mace whenever he needed too. the problem is he has a flair for the grandiose. and wanted to do it with style. And at the same time, Have anakin Turn to the dark side.
Everything proceded exactly as he planned.
The fight with Yoda, no contest, Palpatine KNEW he could not win. So again, he cheated. He started throwing the senate at Yoda, LITERALY. When he saw that would not work, he called for backup. Yes, he won that battle too, but not becuase of any skill he possessed, but becuase he was ready. he had Several of his shocktroopers nearby so he could call if he needed them.
He won, and he won becuase he manipulates, twists, and Cheats.
