SS whats going on with your 1:2 Iron man? I've been wanting to get this since it was announced. But after seeing pictures of pieces that have shown up broken im very disappointed in the quality for such an expensive item. The whole piece is a shell barely 1mm thick is some areas:google
I want to know if you plan on having this changed to have these made heavier and thicker:confused: If not, myself and im sure others can not justify $2k for a paper thin shell of a statue. Having a statue that fragile in my collection would make me nervous every time I look at it. Like it would fall apart if I tapped it the wrong way. Are their plans to have this issue corrected?

Chris

Will second the question. I really wanted this piece as well but concerns on how well it'd hold up over time with such thin castings have made me reconsider.

Please help us out by having thicker casts and I'm sure you'd have a winner on your hands :)

Colour me disappointed too.Had a ton of stuff I was ready to part with to gain the necessary funds but not at all happy or confident about what i ve seen so far regarding this piece.

Or keep the thickness it is already and drop the price to $500 and i'm in.

"the maquette is crafted of polystone, fiberglass, metal and other materials."

Fiberglass and metal? Where? I smell BS. As far as I can see on mine are just some super cheap casting(I can see light through the bottom of the feet) and foam filler.

The CEO is too busy counting money instead of doing his job. FAIL.

well for me i NEVER was going to order this since everything IM related at ssc has some sort of curse tied to it.
this thing is the utmost in disappointment, and i didn't even order it.
i really feel for all of you that ordered it and now know how it's made.:monkey4

I agree with Atheris. While I'm very eager to pick one up, the poor quality/ thin casting has me worried. It looks like it was built to ship one way. With such a thin casting, I would be very afraid if I were to transport this while moving home.

How is this issue being address by SS? While better packaging helps a little, it does not address the issue with quality. We just want to get some assurance that if we're going to spend $2gs on this thing, we should be getting a quality product (READ: solid casting, consistent paint job, good packaging etc). not eggshell casting and cheap packaging.

Having it shipped to me from SS in one piece does not cut it when I know how fragile the IM Maquette really is.

Hope to hear what SS has to say, and address these issues before I place my order.

i've seen fan made ironman suits that are better casted than this.....looks like a 300 dollar piece to me..

I asked to change my order to something else. I also explained that people on the forums are dissapointed with the quality and thinness off the casting. The reply I got basically ignored any of the issues I brought up and they reluctantly let me put the deposit money toward something else. SS don't care about what we think about this statue. They have dissapeared up thier own asses and by principle I won't be buying anymore products from them.

Ya I'm very curious as to what parts are made of what? I can't see any pieces on this made of metal. Except for those two tiny little prongs that stick out under his feet that hold him in place. Everything else seems its made of plastic and poly.

Can i use your sideshow money then? :p

And wow..for 2G's and its all plastic? That is insane. You could (and i am not for recasting) cast that thing an make another if you have half a brain and can use an airbrush. For that kind of money, you want to see and feel craftsmanship.. sorry people who bought this..thats ashame.

For that kind of money, you could get a lifesize version fan made and wearable.. or close to it, money wise.

I thought it was mainly polystone?

Polystone is a kind of resin, which is sometimes referred to as plastic (though Polystone is actually a mix of resin and minerals). In the UK it's regarded in the same category as ceramics.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I have been looking into this. I found out that there were some problems with our early shipments, and I have heard that there are shipping improvements in the works. As of right now, the packing materials and shipment methods have for sure been kicked up a notch :duff

Thanks for the reply, good to know SS is looking into this. But does this mean you will be making them thicker and heavier also? Or is it just the packaging your looking into?

Too little too late.....now I don't feel so bad that I lost a $200.00 deposit because at the end of the day, I really saved $1,800.00!

Almost biggest Marvel statue collecting fail ever only 2nd to me selling off my entire Marvel collection to support my porn movie addiction.

Maybe SS hoped that the movie hype combined with the studio involved in the design combined with the word on the street that Favreau and maybe RDJ each owned one of these would convince people that it was a must own.

It worked on me for the better part of the year until my gut feeling kicked in and I began to hear of terrible things....you have done terrible things Lawrence...terrible things....

LOL early test shipments. Nice to know customers are used a guinea pigs. Nice one SS.

Especially when you are the guinea pig! Seriously, WTX? So what if mine did not came damaged? They just gonna produce rest of the maquette in that pathetically thin casting?

It's funny that now they tell us, "oh, it's just a test shipment. Shouldn't you notify your customers BEFORE hand?

"Buff up the packaging is NOT the solution! It's all about the maquette that's inside!

Btw, which part of the maquette is made in fiberglass? My 2nd replacement is coming soon. I'd love to know. Than you.

P.S. There are improvements in the works!? What does that make mine? 2nd test shipment? If that the case, I will send this in coming replacement back whether it's damaged or not. I did not pay for a test casting!!
