I liked Famke in the Star Trek TNG episode "The Perfect Mate". She was deliciously gorgeous and had an unrequited romance with Captain Picard/Professor X/Patrick Stewart. Hmmm. She was quite sexy in Goldeneye. I was never crazy about her as Jean Grey though. Or Halle as Storm for that matter, although I was glad they didn't cast Angela Bassett. She had too hard a look for the part. They needed to cast someone like a young Iman.

I would've preferred a new Colossus. Hopefully Cudmore gets some acting lessons

Matthew Vaughn Planned To Introduce A New 'Wolverine' In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

"I had a whole different idea of how X-Men should go," Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn tells MTV News. "I thought Days of Future Past should be the next one and be set in the '80s. So, when I wrote the treatment, I then wrote Kingsman and got confused about which film I should direct next. The I said to Fox, 'Let me do Kingsman now, get somebody else in and we'll do the '70s version, recast Wolverine, and the we do Days of Future Past with the new Wolverine AND Hugh, and make it the biggest spectacle we've ever seen." That actually sounds awesome and a younger looking Wolverine makes perfect sense...after all, he didn't go from being a kid straight to looking like 46 year old Hugh Jackman! Based on X-Men: First Class, the X-Men would probably have had costumes too had he remained in control of the franchise. If only...

Would have loved this. Jackman is going to have to be replaced soon and this would have made the most sense. Vaughn looks like he was going in full reboot territory after DOFP which I would have loved. With Singer back, it seems the old cast is sticking around for good, not such a great idea in my opinion.

I think it would have made sense, at that time Jackman was already talking about leaving the role, and he's going to have to be recasted soon. DOFP would have been the perfect time to recast, now it's gotta happen in another movie that will likely make even less sense.

DOFP was damn fine the way it was though. If Singer gave Logan metal claws in the 70's and didn't have that dumb Mystique eye flash at the end I'd have almost no complaints against it.

Yea that was my biggest problem with the film, I needed to see Wolverine slicing Sentinels into pieces.

I'm going to reserve my judgement on the whole Mystique thing until I see where they plan on going with that.

Jackman was in First Class as Logan in the 60s. Recasting a young dude to play a new 70s Wolverine THEN bringing back Jackman for DOFP so the two could meet would make zero sense.

Sounds like a gimmick to me. Everything turned out fine as it is (save for this focus on Jennifer Lawrence which Vaugn would have no doubt done anyway).

The perfect time for a recast was First Class. Had Jackman not been in that film, they could have started a new story that didn't connect with the Singer films, but they had to put that funny, but pointless Wolverine cameo in the film, and as a result First Class became a prequel, rather than a reboot. It's fine, it gave us DOFP, but now we have an almost 50 year old Jackman/Logan and a bunch of young actors wearing makeup to look older in Apocalypse, rather than doing several Xmen films and stories in the 1960's and 70's with Magneto and the X men all in their prime. They are wasting the young cast by making one film/story per decade and aging these characters/young actors.

First Class should have been a reboot. The sequel which takes place in the 60's, introduces young Cyclops, Jean, Angel, and Ice Man, the ORIGINAL 60's lineup and it focuses on them learning to work together (GOTG style) and fighting Magneto, with Cyclops being the leader of the team and main character. Then First Class 3,can take place in the early 70's and they introduce a new actor as Wolverine. From that point on, they can keep making films for the next 15 years with the young cast. Makes sense to me.

Some people say that Jackman IS Wolverine and they call him the definitive version, but I can't say that because unlike Superman or Batman, no one else has played Wolverine. With Batman and Superman you pick and choose and debate which actor is better or who is the definitive version, but not with Wolverine, which is why I'm looking forward to seeing another actor play that role. I like Jackman, but then again, he's all I know. Now, is not the time to recast, because of Apocalypse, so we'll see where they go after the next film, the 1990's? Maybe they can stay in a decade for more than one film this time.

Yea, I agree with your entire post, but Jackman had to return I guess since they were also developing his Wolverine sequel at the same time.

Also, FC became a prequel as soon as they put Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in the first trailer for the movie :lol

Supposedly Apocalypse is supposed to be the conclusion to the FC main cast’s story arch. Kinberg said that doesn’t mean that they won’t use them for another film, but that after Apocalypse they’ll start focusing on the actual X-Men.

I love Jackman as Wolverine, but he’s going to have retire soon and it would be nice to bring in a new actor as smoothly as possible since Jackman is the face of the franchise. Thats why I think Vaughn’s idea would have been pretty good. The character is always bigger than the actor for me, so I have no problem with Wolverine being recasted once Jackman gets too old to play him.
