Another little breakdown.
Hot toys just needs to tweak it a bit and we have a winner. Town down the wrinkles adjust the neck, maybe tweak the eyes.
People are blinded by craftsmanship and realism. But to me HT is closer to the movie.

Nope. Under the first movie. WB most likely just lifted the stupid mandate recently since it looks like Mafex is also now stepping in to do 1/12 figures from the movie as well.
Which is weird, the sequel is also rated R due to “strong violence & brief nudity”, so it isn’t because the film is a lighter tone than the first.

I agree the HT is closer to Phoenix but both are still far from ideal.

Still much prefer Inart's, the clown paint placement is an easy fix for Inart over the sculpt work HT needs to fix. Even if it releases as it is, those slight paint inaccuracies don't really bother me compared to noticeable sculpt oddities.

Yup, I thought the exact same thing.

Sure but it’s not just the paint, its the hairline as well and we don’t know if they will change it. Either way can’t go wrong in my eyes. Also understand if people can’t see the beauty in the hot toys one. Def some things that need tweaking.

Regime change. My guess is Phillips tried that auteur **** on Zaslav and he told him “**** off. I’ve got bills to pay.” And then proceeded to also open up licensing for the first film, since it ain’t winning anymore Oscars.:lol

Really good comp. Something else hindering the HT is the neck is too long. The distance between the chin and top of the collar is much too large on the HT.

I just don’t understand the need for a Phoenix sequel unless he’s going to go full Joker in this, which I doubt.

Don’t get me wrong, the film looks beautifully shot and the talent appears to be present, but the story, the story and interpretation of the character doesn’t lend itself to this at all. I feel the story was completed in the original script, if Phoenix doesn’t want to genuinely be a Joker this time then it’s a retread of completed work. It looks like a bit of the film takes place in his head, could be wrong but that’s the impression I get when I watch the trailer and see the almost too perfect makeup in a clean red suit.

The likeness to Phoenix is much more prevalent here. Can’t only use the photos of where it looks bad for comparison, does the figure look cheap? Absolutely, is it a closer likeness to Phoenix than the InArt? Yes, flaws and all.

I just don't get why it's taken them 5 years and Inart Todo it when fans have been asking but getting more ironman figures. 😂🤦

It they fixed the 3rd party looking suit this would be pretty good. Goes up for pre order next Thursday so queue system will be interesting.

I was very surprised when they announced a sequel. The first movie was perfect, it really didn’t need one.
No doubt Phoenix will put up an amazing performance and I’m excited to see how Lady Gaga will do, but very weird choice overall in my opinion.

I do think the HT sculpt is also closer to Joaquin based on that comparison photo, the only main thing which I don’t like is how cheap the tailoring looks.

The over sculpted wrinkles is actually a good thing, once it softens it will even look better. The cheekbones stand out to me along with how less wide the sculpture looks. I think I will join the queue and cancel either version once better photos come out.

They probably thought it wouldn’t sell since it was a standalone film, no other characters to make to accompany it, drama that surrounded the film, the rumored mandate, until now. Now there’s a Harley, a sequel, and two other licensed companies in the same scale will be making it.

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the photos. Hot Toys got the likeness better. InArt wins when it comes to tailoring (despite both suits being inaccurate) and accessories they definitely did a better job there.

I think InArt’s Arthur Fleck sculpt is even worse, I just can’t see Joaquin Phoenix, from some side angles it looks like the actor, but head on not so much.

I think where Inart has Hot Toys beat so far in every release is the loss of skin detail and overall fidelity on their sculpts. This looks good rn, but I'm always hesitant with HT releases as they come out super smooth skinned. Curious if Inart will respond to this announcement. Always been tempted for a Phoenix Joker, but ultimately I just don't think it has a place in my collection.

As others have mentioned prior, I think the softening of the HT sculpt in production will make the texture just right for Phoenix, the folds around his eyes are the most prevalent skin texture that peeks through the makeup. His makeup was smooth unlike Ledger’s.
