  • Did it make sense for the plot? No, I agree with you on that.
  • Does every scene have to drive the plot? No, name one movie where every scene served the plot than rather setting the tone.
  • Does the scene set the tone for the movie? Big YES.
Hey @jye4ever I now realize I might have misunderstood your point. Somehow my brain added an „e“ and so I thought you meant the intro fight sequence but now I see that you might have meant the end battle. Did you?

If yes, then I am with you, the end battle should have been better.

Oh that’s ok.

I still thought that the end battle was fun it just didn’t serve the narrative at all.

From me the outstanding battle of the movie was the one in the freaking van of all things super well executed.

The void battle was too much shaky cam ending with that dumb
Juggernaut helmet fitting on a small bald woman :slap

God was Juggernaut a waste in this movie even worse than from X3, i mean how!

Real shame about the shaky cam because I wanted to see
Blade do his stuff but nope!

I still think Jugg chasing Keith Pryde has been the best Juggernaut on film even if the movie was all over the place. Deadpool 2 Juggernaut was too cartoony for me.

If your thing is humor I will say that this movie is 100 x funnier than the first 2.

I’m disappointed with the movie but none of that has to do with Jackman he looked amazing, the costume and mask looked amazing and he acted his ass off!

He literally became Wolverine 100% in this absolutely spectacular.

The narrative promise made by the actors and Feige is what failed miserably here not Jackman, not the costume.

Wrong cameos.

WRONG CAMEOS!

W R O N G C A M E O S!!!!!!!!

But I would be lying if I said I didn’t lose my **** when I saw
Snipes!
Wow Jye, your reaction to this movie surprises me almost as much as everyone going gaga over the HT Jar Jar Binks figure. If all of the things you wanted to see in this had occurred then it would have ceased to be a Deadpool movie & that was never going to happen. Frankly, I'm in shock that you've made all of these posts without one mention of how hot Dafne Keen looked all in black as X-23. What's happened to you these past 2 weeks?

When you say he literally became Wolverine in this what do you mean? How was he anymore Wolverine in this than logan? His character motivations and past trauma were just a watered down version of logan. The only difference was he wore the yellow suit in this which admittedly looked cool. I still think the eyes were a huge let down and the mask overall looks much cooler on toys than in live action.

He was way more agile, ferocious and beastly in this than every other X-Men-Wolverine movie combined.

It really addressed decades' worth of fanboy complaints.

Once we saw how funny a 5'2" Wolverine looks on film...anyone still hoping for that going forward?
It's one of those things that only works on a page or in animation. In live action you can't take a character like that seriously.

To be fair they shot him such that

relatively speaking he looked like the Hobbits in LoTR, but regardless I still wouldn't want some short, muscle bound guy in the role. Wolverine is a superhero and it's just feels wrong to always be looking down at someone you should be looking up to. :lol

Yeah, I just don't think it'd work in live action regardless. I'm sure some people would love it. Give me big beefcake Wolverines any day.

In a comic or animation you can stylise him in such a way and exaggerate his features etc. to make him look more intimidating and feral etc. but you can't really do it the same way in a live action thing.

But that's part of the whole point of the character.

Almost everyone would underestimate him. He's not intimidating. And then he destroys you.

I don't agree on this point.

In my opinion the problem wasn't that he was short. It's that they used CG to show Jackman as a short guy instead of an actual short guy. So he looked weird and cartoony, and clearly were highlighting things to play it for laughs. If someone Radcliffe's height (5 foot something) were cast and fit the role well I'm sure it would be fine. Jackie Chan and Jet Li are small guys but their action scenes are effective and believable because they don't look cartoony. He would lose some of the intimidation factor due to his heigh alone, but that could actually help illustrate how bad-ass the guy is when people start crapping their pants when this smallish dude comes at them. But, we'll probably never know for sure since they'll probably never seriously go that route. And honestly, it doesn't matter much to me at all though I wouldn't be against it.

Logan and this film really reinforced my opinion that Jackman gets and is a fantastic Wolverine. I was initially really interested to see a younger guy get cast but at this point I would be cool with them going with him for another decade or so!
