:exactly: I agree. Both head sculpts look really good. Still, I prefer the new one. I think it looks better, and it looks more uniform with the other Avengers in the AoU line, most of whom have closed mouths (with the exception of the Hulk).

This is the main reason I sold off my TDW Thor. I wanted to have them all from the same movie and I like the closed mouth sculpt more than the other. As for Hulk I'm fine with the screaming head cuz its Hulk :lol

Yeah I think we just needed at least one Avenger yawning :lol :monkey3

but I agree, if you are getting most or some of the AOU line, Thor would be a good figure to add to the collection :hi5:

Yeah, a combination of uniformity, the cool lightning design on the stand, the LED hammer, and the better head sculpt (in my opinion) all played a big part in wanting the new Thor. I still need to sell my Dark World Thor, but I found some good leads on people who are looking for him in the commerce forums. I'd like to stay away from Evil Bay if possible. :lol

After all these pics I think I'm coming around to this, getting used to the sculpt. It's not perfect but not as bad as I initially thought. The hair is lighter and I like the serious expression. Better for museum pose next to Cap.

Would have liked if they finally gave us multiple options for arms, hard plastic would be nice. Doesn't seem like that's ever gonna happen though.

:goodpost:

Both headsculpts even themselves out for me. I think TDW sculpt slightly bears a better resemblance to Hemsworth, but I prefer the stern expression of the AoU sculpt. I tend to put my figures in expo/museum poses to very subtle action poses at most, so I think the stern expression works better for that. As you guys mentioned also, the expression on TDW sculpt seems like it would be a little incongruous with the rest of the Avengers (except Hulk) in the AoU line.

Uniformity is the main reason I want him now, as well as the better armor. I have Thor with Cap and the Mk3, and he looks a bit odd with his mouth agape next to Cap. The general consensus seems to be TDW sculpt has the better likeness, while AoU has the better expression... Which are my thoughts exactly.

I'm considering flex ordering this later today, so my problem now is selling my LA Thor, which might not be as easy with this releasing soon. I'd also like to stay away from eBay.

Yeah...I've never sold a figure before so this is basically foreign territory for me. I'm hoping I can sell my fully armored DW Thor off to a fellow collector without incurring too much loss on it.

Might I recommend waiting a couple days for the October coupon? (Assuming you don't already have something in mind for it.) :)

Hot Toys : THOR (Avengers: AOU) & THOR (The Dark World ) Ver. Comparison

:)

Thanks for the comparison videos and pics! That app is actually pretty cool! :D

I always thought the AoU version was blonde but gritty like he's been fighting and dirts been kicking up and caught in his hair

Damn...so it looks like I'm adding the cape too besides the head and light up Hammer.
I like the darker red tone of the new cape.
The new head does look good and I like that the hair is lighter.

Hopefully, once this is out for awhile, the loose pieces' price come down.
I do prefer the body of the TDW cause I prefer him without undershirt. He looks more muscular without it.

Just by going on past availability, Thor will be around and available for a while. He historically does not sell out for a long time and has gone to super saver deals in the last two releases for TDW (non LA) and the Avengers. He is the slowest selling Avenger by far.

The Avengers Thor took forever to sell out for Sideshow and the online shops and I can go out on the internet right now and pick it up under MSRP.
He will be a heavily parted out figure for TA and Monkey Depot. So there should be plenty of parts to go around for everyone. :lol

I was noticing the different shades of the capes as well. I also prefer the slightly darker tone of the AoU cape.

Regarding the darker tone of the AoU cape, it could be a coincidence, but I noticed the general tones of the suits for several characters are changing as the MCU films get more in depth with a darker tone. Thor's cape was a pretty bright red in the first Thor movie and the Avengers, but those movies were more light hearted than TDW and AoU. Cap's stealth strike suit, AoU suit and now CW suit all have darker blues and reds than his suits did in the first Avengers film and TFA. With the exception of his GA suit in TWS.

So I'm not sure it's necessarily a case the previous figures' capes were inaccurate by being too bright of a red and they "got it right" with the AoU cape being darker; they're just simply making it how it was presented in the film.
