I don't know if you could arm swap. Maybe. But you could buy the earlier sleeves and use them.

Not a bad idea. But I guess that maybe slapping the clothes from AOU onto the DW would be easier? We're TDW arms jointed? I actually wouldn't mind the non jointed ones from Avengers. Hmm decisions...

It really undermines the movie promo edition if this will be essentially identical aside from the silver trim (which many people preferred anyway).

Can't really blame HT because there was no way of them knowing his suit in this movie would be pretty much the same, but it is poor form if they don't at least offer a new head sculpt. The DW version has the rock dynamic base and poncho to set itself apart from this but hopefully this will have something else to further add to the differentiation

But this would be the reverse situation which makes it worse. The MK VI deal was odd enough because they took one MMS, stuck another MMS's sculpt in the package, gave it less accessories than the original and called it a Movie Promo Edition (and people ate it up which I never understood). In this case, they gave you something different than the MMS (essentially more, not less like the former) and sold it as a "select market item". If they go and re-release it, that pretty much pisses all over the "special" limited nature of what the DW movie promo set was supposed to be.

Movie promo just had a Headsculpt and the regular had 2 helmets/battle damage parts/ 2 stands.

I dont see it that way. It's sold as a package. Go look at most toy lines (or statues or collectibles)...most limited editions have been reused in the standard line. No matter what is or is not included. But it's not not the same. They still only made so many of the limited edition. They do it as a way to boost sales and hype and interest.

If they reuse everything it's still a unique release. most of the time a limited edition is no more then a fancy new box or just a sticker.

I just saved 20% on Dark World Thor ...I am set. Gold accents, sleeves and all.

So glad I sold my light armor Thor at a big profit. I just had a feeling this was exactly what we were gonna get as an Avengers 2 version.

For some reason Thor doesn't have his own close-up in HT's photo album of the event in Asia...could the display figure be another placeholder?

All those months back the Hulk sculpt was the original as a placeholder was it not? Could be the same with Thor, waiting for the official reveal.

I don't get the armor less version for AOU. We've seen in the trailer both with and without armored arms, and you'd think going up against Ultron he'd want to be armored up. Wonder why he isn't? And Hot Toys made the light armor from TDW the exclusive limited one which seemed to indicate it would be the only armor less version of Thor. And here we are seeing this. I guess their reasoning for the armor less was because he sold out and the regular armored version is still around... I have all 4 Thor's and am still glad I have them, but this just makes the light armor seem less "special" to me. .... If the only difference is silver vs gold accents and a blue shirt under his armor so you can't see his chest, I can't see any reason so far as to why I would even want this?? I could just buy the shirt and armor and decide which I like better.... I hope he turns out very different as Thor is my favorite Marvel character, and as much I'd be happy to save the money, I was still hoping for something different.

Can't please 'em all, but I for one am super happy they went with the sleeveless for AoU, much prefer this look.

Well, this figure makes me feel much better about not being able to get the Light Asgardian armor version. It is basically the same thing lol.
This trend with Hot Toys is pretty annoying tho, So many Black Widows, Thors and this recent case with War Machine 2.0.2. I mean, now we are going to get a Man of Steel with a different facial expression but same everything. Sucks for those who have the pieces but good for the newcomers.
