Cool, post a pic here Mandible. I can't say I love Jnix's Luke quite as much as his Han so far, but would love to see more in-hand pics.

If the eyes could be significantly adjusted on the JNIX headsculpt, you'd have the closest likeness yet. As it is, Luke looks to have stepped right out of They Live:

This is the first Jnix Painted version we've seen so far - so that pic above is someone else's own paint job.

Jnix nailed the eyes here:

I hate to say this but I think the eyelids are sculpted to wide. I've seen silent surfer's masterful paint job, but it still seems a bit large.

I think at this point, the only chance we have left is if Jacob could show us his take.

Yeah, I love it overall capturing a young Hamill but to me the expression always seems off somehow. But also the eyes. Not sure if they are too wide/big, or its the lids too prominent as Hydeous says, or just the way they are painted (maybe an iris decal that was a bit too small for the eye size on one I've seen,) but I haven't seen any pics of the painted Luke sculpt where the eyes haven't looked slightly - I dunno - a bit unsettling maybe.

It's been incredibly frustrating to see this (I'm a HUGE fan of Jnix's) because the overall face, the mouth, and even the hair sculpt, is phenomenal. If you cover the eyes in the bigger pic above, it's 200% Hamill as Luke, undoubtedly a step up on the HT in every way.:gah:

Rahmier's paint-up is going to be the one to watch.:yess:

That sculpt looks even less like Hamill on the body than it did off it, and those are really good shots, so it's not a camera issue. I just don't see Mark Hamill in that sculpt.

To be honest, it's never looked right to me, and much less so on the body. The Han was a masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned, but IMO this one is a miss.

When I saw pictures of the Jnix Hamill sculpt by itself a couple of pages back, I thought the likeness was spot on and superior to the HT sculpt, but the eyes a bit too wide and the expression was a little peculiar.

Now seeing the sculpt on the figure, I don't even see Hamill in the sculpt for some reason at all. Prefer the HT sculpt to this, after seeing it on the figure. Prefer HT's efforts on both Han and Luke, actually.

Yeah he's a fantastic sculptor, but it always seems a shame to me that he doesn't take a bit more time to tweak and finesse these sculpts before finalizing them and rushing them out to people. Especially when the likenesses are as challenging as these ones are. It made a huge difference when he narrowed the nose at the last minute, so clearly there was still some room for improvement with the sculpt.

I will reserve final judgement until I'm in a first-hand position to judge, but from what we've seen so far, it seems to be shaping up as at least a slight missed opportunity for Jnix to hit back to back home runs.

The close-up of the SilentSurfer paint up I posted a while back show an incredible overall sculpt, IMO. But even this sculpt when mounted on the figure looks very good, but not quite great (as opposed to Han in the background (also painted by SS).

But all of these photos are highly enlarged from what the figure will look like in hand...so I still have some hope.

If Jnix had mad the choice to close the mouth and tweak the eye size along the margins, I think we'd all be singing a very different tune today.....V2?

Tom Cruise > Scary Mary.

No one likes you, KoK....:lol

:lecture:rotfl

Still think this looks sensational, though...

I think what the problem is that he clearly used the "I'm here to rescue you" scene as the primary reference (the hair sculpt is pretty much an exact match to Hamill's hair that scene) and Luke's eyes are indeed that wide open for that moment. Hamill does that a lot in dramatic moments for a fleeting couple of seconds (it's a sure sign of an endearing but hammy performance:lol,) but the expression on Jnix's sculpt is sort of an odd juxtaposition of subdued and something else.

So it's almost like you could have the eyes like that if the Luke sculpt was "yelling" or something, even maybe "Luke having extreme wonder" with mouth more open, but not in the slightly odd calm-ish expression that it has.
