OK, Dave... You are officially designated Project Lead. I'll start rounding up the deposits for you. I anticipate 150 to 200 units. Shall we say Spring 2037?

Ha, I think we might be looking more at the 2050s here. :D

Actually now that I've got most of it figured out, I could probably make additional dresses pretty easily. I just have like a thousand other things I'd rather do instead. Lol

If I trusted my sewing skills, I'd definitely try make a better gown. You guys did a great job on those!!

You can still give it a shot, since a dress like this doesn't require major skills to make. It just takes a bit of experimenting and reverse engineering and figuring out in what order to piece everything together, just like if you were building anything else. And the sewing machine I use is this tiny thing with just the most basic functions (I wouldn't have a clue how to use the larger ones out there with 50 different features).

Well here's my attempt at a Leia dress. It was definitely more challenging than I expected and took some trial and error, but in the end I think it works well enough. I can see a few issues that still need to be corrected of course (like the slits on the side that go up a bit too high), and the dress probably still needs to be shortened just a bit. But the fabric I'm really happy with, as it's thin and heavy but still has kind of a soft look to it in pics.

WHY Hot Toys didn't released Leia in this way? GREAT work.

I just might give it the old college try in the next few months here. The gown is the one thing that I think needed improvement on that figure.

I gave up on this one and put it up for sale. I know I’ll regret it when Tarkin comes out, but I had her boxed up and in the closet for 1/2 the time I owned her cause of that dress. I’ve always been torn with this version since character-wise it’s my favorite but outfit wise it’s the least interesting, and at 1/6 scale it’s also probably the most difficult outfit to pull off due to the weight and many folds of the real thing.

I have the Hoth Leia on order, though the sculpt isn’t as strong, and would consider the Endor one as well.

Yeah if all three versions had been put up for order at the same time, I likely would have ended up passing on the ANH Leia with it's boring crappy dress and only gotten the other two. And I've always liked those outfits so much more anyway.

The one issue I hear consistently about bootleg stuff is that they are slightly undersized - the heads are 10-15% smaller than the HT original (which can be a problem given that even HT's heads have been getting slightly smaller in the past few years and occasionally feel a little undersized to me.)

The bootleg paint apps seem to vary - I've seen pics of some pretty bad ones, but also some that seem close to on-par with HT.

Ahoy!

I just received the tactical screen from Rustyj. What a great compliment to an amazing piece!
